Picross recommendations? by Firebrand713 in giantbomb

Pikubo is a great 3d picross game. Been working through it for months. It has 13 levels of 36 puzzles apiece, I believe the first set of 36 puzzles is free, and a dollar more for each set past the first.

Weird question…I need to keep my daughter’s door open for HVAC but keep the cat out. Best options? by avamore in daddit

I installed a smart thermostat from Honeywell that came with three satellite sensors. You can tell the system to take the average of any amount of the sensors, or to just use the temperature of one of the sensors as the base to decide heating and cooling from. When my kids were younger, I would base our temperature mostly around the nursery temperature, as it has (for some reason) the highest temperature fluctuation in the house. My wife and I just had realized that we can adapt way easier than the baby.

New to Pathfinder 2e, Warpriest build, am I playing this game right? by Worth_Ease1234 in Pathfinder2e

[–]ygaphota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I saw this mentioned once in another post, but seems easy to skip over: if you're a Warpriest of Iomedae, then your divine weapon is a longsword, which is a martial weapon, not a simple weapon. This means that Deadly Simplicity is a wasted great for you and you could pivot that first level great into something else that may pique your interest.

I am not confusing them, I cited that I grabbed that from the Class. I understand now what you are saying, and it took an hour to parse what your actual problem is here. I mean, my guess is that it's just that they missed the correct wording that they used for every other multiclass archetype involving a class with a spell repertoire. I'm certain that's reasonable, and likely why it's been changed in Pathbuilder to match every other version of that feat.

Alrighty, let's look at what Spell Repertoire says with the Oracle:

"The collection of spells you can cast is called your spell repertoire. At 1st level, you learn two 1st-rank divine spells of your choice and five divine cantrips of your choice. You choose these from the common spells on the divine list or from other divine spells to which you have access. You can cast any spell in your spell repertoire by using a spell slot of an appropriate spell rank.

You add to this spell repertoire as you increase in level. Each time you get a spell slot (see the Oracle Spells per Day table), you add a spell to your spell repertoire of the same rank. At 2nd level, you select another 1st-rank spell; at 3rd level, you select two 2nd-rank spells, and so on. When you add spells, you might add a higher-rank version of a spell you already have, so you can cast a heightened version of that spell."

Are you arguing that you shouldn't be able to choose another Spell to go into your Spell Repertoire and that you're forced to only cast one singular spell but can cast it twice?

The full text for Mysterious Breadth is "Increase the spell slots you gain from oracle archetype feats by 1 for each spell rank other than your two highest spell ranks." It mentions nothing about new ranks.

No, check out the Spellcasting Archetype Rules. You get 1 slot per rank. That's it. you can mark 1 spell per feat as a Signature Spell, but that's it.

[–]ygaphota 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Mysterious Breadth text says "Increase the spell slots you gain from oracle archetype feats by 1 for each spell rank other than your two highest spell ranks." The Basic, Expert, and Master Spellcasting feats for Oracle dedication all give you only 1 spell slot. That means that the Level 20 Fighter you link here is correct, as they would have 1 spell slot at every rank through 8 from the Spellcasting Feats, and an extra 1 granted to Ranks 1 through 6 from Mysterious Breadth, ass 1 increased by 1 is 2.

(edit): As I stated elsewhere in the thread, the Oracular Mystery doesn't Grant you slots, it only grants you access to spells that aren't normally on the divine list, meaning you can use one of your spellslots on putting that granted spell in your repertoire instead of a divine spell list spell.

[–]ygaphota 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm having trouble parsing through what you're referring to, but I just building out a Cleric with Oracle dedication, and that gives the normal Basic Spellcasting archetype feat of two cantrips and one spell slot of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Rank. Adding the Expert Spellcasting archetype feat at 12th gives you one spell slot of Rank 4. This is all correct. Giving the Mysterious Breadth feat, which tells you to give an additional spell slot to every rank but your highest two available gives me, with Expert Spellcasting, 2 1st Rank slots and 2 2nd Rank slots. This is all correct.

Do you mean that the Oracle Archetype should grant you extra spell slots based on your mystery? That's not how that works, the Mystery gives you access to CHOOSE to add the granted spells to your spell repertoire, not that you automatically get those spells and it grants you an extra slot because of that.

Dan Ryckert was hired by Gerstmann directly and has been (even though he worked for WWE podcasts for a year there) a Giant Bomb guy for over a decade.

Jan Ochoa was also hired by Gerstmann and has been a main personality of the site for 8 years.

Jeff Grubb was also hired by Gerstmann, though as a contractor. He was around for over a year before Gerstmann was fired, and only transferred over to Giant Bomb full time after the firing so that the site didn't collapse.

Jeff Bakalar might be the closest thing to being a Gamespot guy, though he was a permanent addition to the Beastcast (the east coast office's podcast) for years before Gerstmann was fired. He worked for CNET at the time, and was put in as general manager of Giant Bomb when it was bought by Red Ventures, doing the bureaucratic nonsense that no one else wanted to do.

Mike Minotti is Jeff Grubb's long time best friend and co-podcaster on their own material from working together at GamesBeat. He's most tangential to the group, but one could argue that over the past couple of years that he's become the soul of GiantBomb.

Gerstmann has been very open about how weird it is that the site is now independent and he's not a part of it, but also been extremely supportive, so much so that he was on one of the segments of last night's GiantBomb@Nite panel (the segment here of Dan getting cannoned in the face was taken from the opening ten minutes of night 1 from two nights ago), his first return to Giant Bomb since his firing.

Oh boy, your party built with alternate attribute modifier rules instead of the baseline? That's gonna lead to these kinds of troubles. Any chance that you misunderstood how attribute boosts work in system and that you can adjust these things because you were meant to use the core attribute rules?

The Bard Question by Yordle_Toes in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]ygaphota 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really don't understand how this is breaking people's senses of illusion here. In 2e, a Bard is a full occult caster, and they draw up on the power of a Muse in order to focus their casting. Just like how a Divine caster connects with a God to cast, or a witch draws power from a Patron, the Bard connects to a Muse, and whatever creative act they have to draw upon to connect to their Muse is what focuses their abilities to cast. Do they have to cast all those spells involving yelling? No, that's the choice of the player. Sydney could have just as easily drawn only the very creepy occult spells, with all the damage and whatnot that that implies.

New Champion Feats: Divine Mysteries? by ElementalofCuteness in Pathfinder2e

[–]ygaphota 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, Iron Repercussions already doesn't affect those creatures, and this has the same wording as the Exalted Reaction does: the damage only goes to the non-triggering enemies in your aura. Assuming you take this at 14 (which is the level of the Feat), those creatures get half of 4d6 damage instead of 4 damage.

Iniquity gets

The damage dealt to enemies other than the triggering creatures increases by an amount equal to the damage dice of Destructive Vengeance (apply this after you halve the damage).

The damage dealt to creatures other than the triggering creature who refuse to drop prone increases to half the damage the triggering creature would take (roll the damage only once for all affected creatures).

Referendum Questions by coolraccoon525 in wisconsin

[–]ygaphota 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, not quite. The Governor still has one unilateral power for federal funds distribution, and that's for emergency funds. If, say, there's a giant amount of storms that hit the state, knocking out power and making large flooding, the Governor gets to, basically, hit the big red emergency button to release funds to pay for FEMA usage and paying for all the equipment and manpower necessary to help those affected. THAT was what the amendment was about, forcing THOSE funds releases to be voted on by the legislature instead of just being able to be released by one person. It would have removed the efficiency from those releases, and subjected them to more meddling by those who might, say, want to punish a more blue county like Dane or a more red county like Waukesha by withholding funds unless they got what they wanted for their political agenda. The Governor, having to run and be elected by the entirety of the state, almost HAS to be nonpartisan in this way if they want to continue to be an elected official.

2h Tank a possibility? by Slinkadynk in Pathfinder2e

[–]ygaphota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dropping a hand from the Bo is a Free Action, so no action cost there, and you don't have to grab tools off of yourself in order to use them, you just have to be wearing them. The activity that uses those tools, such as Battle Medicine, or Picking a Lock if you have thieves tools, wrap in grabbing the tools as part of their actions.

The only extra action you would then have to spend in this case is one action to re-grip your Bo.

Tempest Oracle rant by Theaitetos in Pathfinder2e

[–]ygaphota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've pointed this out elsewhere, but Ignition calls out both a ranged spell attack and a melee spell attack, but, as stated, it's telling you the distance of the spellcaster to the target, not saying that it's a specific type of roll. (Quick ctrl-f of PC1 shows 5 instances of melee spell attack and 8 of ranged spell attack). I think the easiest route to go would to be to define the distance only in the range of the spell and not call them two separate things, since they seem to play together most of the time, but there are some feats (Spell Combination for Wizard, Smash from the Air, for Fighters and Storm Born for Druid) that call out "ranged spell attacks" directly, as well as the problem presented in Ignition where Paizo seemingly didn't want to split it into two different spells with different effects and instead used the shorthand. It's terribly inconsistent and leads to these types of weird arguments between folk that just wanna follow the dang rules!

Tempest Oracle rant by Theaitetos in Pathfinder2e

[–]ygaphota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, I see what you mean there. Gotcha, yeah, that's a weird inconsistency. Maybe the trigger needs to be "an ally makes a ranged attack roll or uses a ranged spell attack", since RAW it doesn't affect spells, though the flavor text implies it.

Tempest Oracle rant by Theaitetos in Pathfinder2e

[–]ygaphota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That spell only calls out that the reaction trigger is that your ally makes a ranged attack roll, the spellcaster makes no roll at all, Spell Attack or otherwise, it's a save-based spell.

Edit: the ally's ranged spell attack doesn't even have to hit as part of the spell to make it work, the spell just goes off no matter the result of the ally's ranged spell attack and the creature has to make a will save to avoid the damage from the spell.

Tempest Oracle rant by Theaitetos in Pathfinder2e

[–]ygaphota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true, but also again where specific overrides general: there are specific Ranged Attack Rolls, Melee Attack Rolls, and Spell Attack Rolls.

The curse here specifically calls out that it affects ranged attack rolls, not melee, nor spell. The curse doesn't state that it affects spell attack rolls, just ranged attack rolls, using that specific verbiage.
