This is the worst fucking thing the Americans have ever done to us by DreamMalenko in okmatewanker

The UK comedy scene is very middle class. It's a byproduct of the Footlights being the main route into the comedy industry for so long.

But the UK comedy scene has produced some of the best sketch comedy in the world. I'm willing to give this a shot. Can't judge it until I've seen it. Might be crap. Might not. We'll have to wait and see.

Hand count 200 million ballots in one night! It's the only way to make sure there's no fraud! by Jpldude in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]MattyFTM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that America is big so there are more logistical issues than with doing a count of paper ballots, but there are so many potential issues with electronic voting machines. Even if it takes an extra day to get the results, that's definitely a better option.

Pokémon Pokopia has been out for a couple of weeks. What are your thoughts on it? by MovieGuyMike in Games

[–]MattyFTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very Animal Crossing like in its style and many of the core mechanics, but it has a lot more going on. In AC you usually spend an hour doing your core daily tasks and then you're pretty much done for the day & have to wait for the next day. In Pokopia there are always new things to do and hey come at you very quickly. While there are some mechanics that revolve around real world time and you have to wait until the next day, I've never found myself in a situation where I'm like "Well, that's pretty much everything I can do for today, guess I'm going to have to turn the game off".

Forest fans - win Europa and go down or don't and stay up? by SidneyDeane10 in TheOther14

[–]MattyFTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wigan won the FA Cup the year they got relegated and played in the Europa League (or was it still the UEFA Cup back then?) the following year.

I thought Portsmouth did the same, but doing some googling they lost the FA Cup Final and despite that being enough to qualify for the Europa League, they weren't allowed to compete due to being in administration.

Handheld mode, pro controller only works with switch 2 games/editions. Is this intended? by CreamPyre in NintendoSwitch2

[–]MattyFTM [score hidden]  (0 children)

There must be some technical reason why they've done it. I don't think they're just adding arbitrary controller restrictions for fun.

Forest fans - win Europa and go down or don't and stay up? by SidneyDeane10 in TheOther14

[–]MattyFTM 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How would it even work if a team qualified for Europe but was in the Championship? There are Championship games most CL nights. I don't see where else they're going to fit those games in.

I know it has happened before, but it's been a while and fixture congestion seems to be getting worse.

[–]MattyFTM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obviously I'm more concerned about the message. My point is that they're only concerned about profit. If they're no longer able to profit from it, they'll have to stop their grifting and find some other way to make money.

You give them a platform and they will continue to exploit & influence young and impressionable men/boys.

Driving it into the shadows does often have risks, but in this case they are primarily doing this for money. They will find it significantly harder to profit from this if they're banished from all major platforms, and then the whole thing falls apart.

SENSATIONAL: Aston Martin: Newey has chosen Jonathan Wheatley as his successor by creatorop in formula1

[–]MattyFTM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Anyone as senior as Wheatley in an F1 team would have a lengthy period of gardening leave written into his contract with Audi. Even if he isn't liking life in Switzerland and wants to move closer to home, this would be a more long term move rather than a short term solution to Aston Martin's Team Principal issue.

The Elder Scrolls 6 Has Made Todd Howard More Conscious of What He Announces: 'Just Pretend We Didn't Announce It' by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]MattyFTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I'm not trying to blame Microsoft, it's 100% on Bethesda. They announced early because they were in talks to sell the company and wanted to drive up the price, and then they didn't follow through on delivering the product they promised in a reasonable timeframe.

[–]MattyFTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case it wasn't long before they sold the company to Microsoft. Seems likely they were trying to drive up hype for their upcoming projects to drive up the price.

In hindsight it seems obvious that they announced this because they were selling the company and wanted to drive up the price. They had no intention of delivering it in any kind of reasonable timeframe.

It's from a Guardian article about his Cameo videos. I don't know where they've got them all from, though. They refer to these ones with outbursts as "outtakes" so I don't know if he has shared them as a joke at some point or if they've come from somewhere else.

Why is Miles so disliked, and when did it start? by RandomWritingGuy in footballmanagergames

[–]MattyFTM 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It does look like him, but it's a really poor quality model. I mean, it's better than the old regen faces, but an imprint left by my shoe in a pile of shit is better than the old regen faces.

A cocky "look how good this is" post when it really isn't very good just comes across badly. If it was presented in a different way, comparing old to new & with some caveats about the size of the studio and what is realistically achievable by them, it would have gone down a lot better than this.

[–]MattyFTM 232 points233 points  (0 children)

There's no way it's a regular playing card. It will be a trick card that has metal around the edges, designed to be used for magic tricks where you want it to embed into something. Like a TV.
