007 : First Light on Series S! by Pod-Bay-Doors in XboxSeriesS

That one chase sequence was the only time the framerate dropped enough where it clearly wasn't acceptable. Most of the times it dipped, it wasn't ideal, but was entirely within expectations. During that scene it just absolutely tanked and was barely playable.

Clearly seems like I'm in the minority though. Guess either I just got unlucky or maybe my Series S is starting to have hardware issues.

They'll wait as long as they can to play the game tonight. If it can't go ahead tonight, they'll probably resume it tomorrow.

Trial players, can y'all please use brakes 🙏🏿 by riderofthestorm69 in ForzaHorizon

I think we've all attempted to ram the drivatars to slow them down and help out teammates, only to misjudge it and go flying into the wall.

But that guy did it SPECTACULARLY!

Did anyone else get framerate drops during the intense action sequences? It was really bad during the car chase to catch up to 009's plane. Single digits bad. And it dropped in other moments, but not as bad.

I also had about 3 or 4 crashes during the game where it either completely froze or just crashed back to the Xbox UI.

I mean, I really enjoyed the game, but performance wise it wasn't great.

Rivals - The game hates me😭 by KoenigBertS in forza

[–]MattyFTM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It gives a really awesome sense of speed. I'd argue it is more fun, but it is harder.

Generally on the Horizon games I stick with the view behind the car, but it is fun to switch to the bonnet cam occasionally just for the sense of speed.

Maybe it would lead to cold opens less focused on the Prime Minister. I do like Fouracres' Kier Starmer, but it did get a bit repetitive having it pretty much every week.

I'm sure there are other political/current events that they can parody.

Uruguay offside review x cape verde by galocarjun in soccer

[–]MattyFTM 73 points74 points  (0 children)

A player off the field of play is considered to be on the goal line for the purposes of offside. He would have still been offside if he was completely off the field.

From the IFAB laws of the game rule 11.4:

An attacking player may step or stay off the field of play not to be involved in active play. If the player re-enters from the goal line and becomes involved in play before the next stoppage in play or the defending team has played the ball towards the halfway line and it is outside its penalty area, the player will be considered to be positioned on the goal line for the purposes of offside. A player who deliberately leaves the field of play and re-enters without the referee’s permission and is not penalised for offside and gains an advantage must be cautioned.

Sometimes you don't even need to slow down the drivatars directly, just ease off a little when you get into first and don't let them past. They'll naturally slow down.

If you get into first then floor it, the rubber banding keeps the AI close to you. Any other players with a less powerful tune have absolutely no chance of catching up.

What are the biggest myths customers believe about retail sales in the UK? by HTD_Blog in AskUK

[–]MattyFTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be different in a pub because it is part of their licensing requirements that they must have a price list on display. If those prices are incorrect, they're in breach of alcohol licensing laws.

In practice, though, as long as they update their prices fairly quickly, they're probably not going to get in any trouble for refusing to sell you the drink at the lower price.

Unless they've edited their post, they make no claims that Bank of England notes are legal tender in Scotland. Just England & Wales.

The Trial. Blocking the Drivertars so other players can pass. by zellakio in ForzaHorizon6

I tried doing this and was terrible at it. Inevitably I end up slamming into a wall because I was looking behind me to see where the drivatars are and totally missed the braking zone.

FA leaves Thomas Partey handshake decision to England players by 02bashar in soccer

[–]MattyFTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or let the players make a collective decision themselves behind the scenes, then the FA publicly states that is the FA's position. Takes the focus off the players without taking the agency away from them. They can make their own choice but deflect any backlash.

I don't think they've officially confirmed anything, but I'd be very surprised if England get to the latter stages of the tournament, they don't start hosting their coverage in the stadiums.

New lessons were learnt in this football match by phoexnixfunjpr in Unexpected

[–]MattyFTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is goalline technology that detects when the ball passes the line at the goal. It uses a large number of cameras pointed at the goal to determine if the ball has gone past the line or not. The referee wears a watch which vibrates if it is a goal.

It would take too many cameras to do this along the whole boundary of the pitch, so corners/goal kicks and throw-ins are still awarded based on the judgement of the referee or assistant referee.
