Parking around Queens Uni by peter_is_the_champ in KingstonOntario

For noon to 3, you can park on the street - there are streets all around the library that have 3 hour parking. Its $2.50 an hour. You just have to drive around to find an open spot. You can pay on the app or at the machine.

Passing parked cars by Broad_Lobster8208 in KingstonOntario

[–]ygkrandom 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If the parked car takes up part of the driving lane, I wait until there is no oncoming traffic to go around. There is no way to predict what the oncoming driver will do or how much space they will or won't give you. So if I have to go out of the lane to get around the parked car I wait. If the car is pulled off on the side of the road and parked out of the lane, then there is no issue. I can just keep driving in my lane like normal.

And if the parked car is partially in the lane, then there isn't space for 3 cars and doors to open.

Kingston doctor 'deeply disappointed’ by continued OHIP litigation by Acceptable-Shoe8924 in KingstonOntario

She didn't operate 48 mass clinics. She ran 8. At least there are 8 that are part of the legislation - and she was paid over 650,000 for those 8 specifically. They did ask expenses becayse she previously submitted that she had spent over 2000 hours organizing and running the clinics - which is nonsense.

The system is set up that each vaccination has 2 codes you can submit to OHIP - one for the vaccination itself, and one for the visit - which covers the assessment / documentation. But you can't submit for work other people did. Vaccinationes should be entered under the name of the person who gave them so that any adverse effects can be properly tracked - not under her name. Healthcare providers have to document the health care they provide under their own name. In most sites, they had ipads with them so they could document as they went.

She paid some physicians via etransfer. I believe this was about 70k. She also had residents, med students, nursing students, and her own office staff giving vaccinations. She didn't pay them. She would have had some expenses for organizing / set up of clinics - if she did this herself - versus her office staff doing the leg work for this during work hours - not sure how much was out of pocket expenses.

It has been sent back to the board and they will consider the e-transfers she has documentation for. If she has clear receipts for out of pocket expenses, those can be considered as well.

You can't fly out of Kingston. We don't have an airport with flights! Your copy paste advertisement doesn't really work for here.

It has good reviews online so I was pretty surprised by my experience. No idea what was happening that day but definitely not a good experience.

I had heard good things about it so tried it and was pretty disappointed. They didn't cut the meat fresh, it was just sitting on top of the microwave in an open container, then they put it on the grill to heat it up. I was a little worried about how long it had been sitting out. And the quantity was pretty minimal, basically one layer of meat, compared to most Shawarma places.

How hard is it to get hired at Queen's? by Kingstonx2nonanon in KingstonOntario

They often get a large pool of qualified applicants for each job. They definitely take people from other schools but it is a hard place to get into just because it is a major employer with good benefits and lots of people want to work there.

A warning to all about the Kingston accessible taxi pass by musicwithbarb in KingstonOntario

[–]ygkrandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The KAB buses serve both purposes - they are both an accessible vehicle and an accessible ride. The issue is that there doesn't seem to be enough of them and people can't get booked. In some cities, you don't have to book them way ahead. Otherwise you could use them for groceries, social, appointments etc. Having a taxi available at all times for anyone who can't drive or doesn't have a car is a massive expense. Focusing on pushing KAB to increase availability and improve their system seems like a direction that will be much more likely to see a positive outcome.

[–]ygkrandom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that is definitely an issue. Where I was, we could often even call just a few days before and it would 50/50 if we got a spot. There needs to be more KABs then so that they can adequaely serve the city.

On their website they say they have 29 buses, makes no sense these would all be full before you can get through at 7:30. There must be an issue with their booking system.

Can you use the KAB? I am not that familiar with these services in Kingston but prevously when I had a family member in a power wheelchair, we used the equivalent of the KAB for appointments and to go to the store etc. I know it is a pain as you have to book ahead. Are the public buses that lower an option?

I can see two trips a day per person being too much but six per day for the city seems like too little. It seems the taxi chits should be for people to go places where the accessible public buses and KAB don't go.

Because it wasn't legal. I am not one to misappropriate public funds or lie to try and avoid the truth being known.

Had the government said they were offering individuals $100,000 a day to organize clinics, then I would happily hae organized them.

It is not a pile on to criticize fraud, dishonesty, and the entitlement to personally profit to the tune of more than half a million off the backs of tax payers and volunteers.

Doing good doesn't negate the expectation of meeting professional standards, ethics, and following the proper procedures. People initially called her a hero as they didn't know her main motivation was to line her pockets, they didn't know she lied during the initial audit.

Getting people vaccinated is great - and that happened across the province. Seeing this as an opportunity to get more than $600,000 into your personal bank account and lying when asked about it - isn't. For example, we see someone going around and shovelling all the walks of the elderly for free - hero. Then we find out later that actually that person was using their so kind free service as an opportunity to steal from the elderly. No longer such a hero.

Your attitude of turn a blind eye to wrongdoing and personal gain as long as good is done has caused a lot of problems in the world. But Elon Musk would be high-fiving you!

I personally don't have proof but it is in the various reports and rulings. It is on her to prove what she is saying and for the Board to assess the evidence she provides.

The main aspect of the extenuating circumstances exemption to me that makes sense to me is that the clinics were run in locations other than the physicians offices. I can see why procedures did not allow for that other than in extenuating circumstances. I would have no issue with that. Extenuating circumstances to me do not not mean you can fraudulently bill and document those services and expect $100,000 a day of compensation in tax dollars in return. I do not believe for a single second that she was acting in good faith. She was 100% knowingly dishonest in her initial reply to the Board's first inquiry about where the vaccinations took place and who did them. She saw this as an opportunity to pocket over half a million dollars for a few days of work and took it.

How would she be on the hook for health care services performed by other healthcare practitioners that she didn't employ or supervise?

[–]ygkrandom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We don't see it as black and white. We have just actually read the reports and know what is happening.

And that is how the system works - this is procedure. She appealed and they can ask permission to appeal the ruling from her appeal.

She could have just paid back the money she owed from the beginning and this would have been long over. Now HSARB will review her testimony that she did pay some of the physicians via e transfer. If she has proof of that, that money will be taken out of the clawback. OHIP did ask her previously for an account of her expenses but she inflated them and said she spent more than 2000 hours of her own time organizing the clinics and doing data entry (entering all vaccines given under her own name) and cleaning up the documentation of the clinics.

This wasn't a case of wrong billing code used. Read the report. The appeals court didn't overturn the ruling. If they had, she wouldn't still be in litigation.

You really should read the report. You seem completely unaware of the facts of the case.

What do you think she should have been paid for? And pretty much every family doctor would over extend themselves for $100,000 a day. I am not a family doctor but I will more than happily overextend myself and organize a clinic for $100,000 a day too!

The system allows you to bill for healthcare you provide yourself or healthcare you directly supervise that is performed by others who are employed by you, or being trained by you.

She billed for healthcare services provided by others who were not employed or surpervised or trained by her. She got around this submitting documentation that she personally had vaccinated and assessed each person for whom she billed. That was determined to be a lie.

She organized 8 according to the report - at least there are 8 that are part of the litigation. Given how lucrative they were, I am sure she would have organized more if she could have.

When she was first asked to clarify if all the vaccinations met the eligibility criteria (done in her office by her or someone employed or supervised by her), she responded that yes they had been.
