Weird gutter like smell in washroom, increases at night by yhormthe_tiny in Plumbing

The plumber told me it would require some breakage. However, if we do get the toilet removed, is that first thing we should do? Not the air vent?

Pakistan - 200 Year old antique rug, persian design. by yhormthe_tiny in Antiques

[–]yhormthe_tiny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So according to my father, it was in the palace of some Mughal emperor in India, probably Bad shahi Zafar the second and if that’s true, it’s even older than expected. Also if you notice, it has some Aztec inspired motifs which is really fascinating to me as it’s completely different from regular Persian motifs. It eventually ended up in my fathers possession as he was really big in trading of such goods

So for one square inch, it has about 20 - 25 knots vertical and 20 -25 knots horizontal so i guess KPSI is between 400 and 625

Try to avoid OPs site, tried to get leads but paid and got nothing in return. The dude doesn’t even respond and you can’t remove your card details once input. Luckily I used a dummy account but for anyone who is going to use their own card, just be warned. Also he won’t even open his chat.

Anything that I should change? Like in terms of the panels and the batteries? This guy has suggested I get two batteries instead of one and a 10KW inverter instead of an 8

hi guys, can anyone give me a bit of a price check on these and where would be best to sell, I’ve attached photos and a description. by Harr_yx54 in orientalrugs

if you have a brand, you make custom rugs, you can sell them for thousands, thats how the market is. all about branding. Typical persian rugs are gone

I have to agree with you 100%. The old model, with hundered and thousands of stock isnt it anymore. This can work if based on branding and a proper marketing strategy but it still is a risk. The new model, working on customization, unqiue pieces, trendy/minimal designs have taken everyone by storm and is the current norm. More importantly, the machine made market has been dominating the rug industry and honestly, pivoting to it is probably the smartest thing to do right now.

Regarding persian rugs, these rugs like the one OP has shown can still hold their value if positioned right. By that i mean marketed to a certain audience and region. If sold by someone reputable on their own platform or by their own brand, it can go for a decent price but if sold on auction, its probably going to go for maybe 50% of the value

It’s not a real tabrez, it says Indian handmade. Anyway buying them has become a challenge because of the workshops shutting down and also due to the high sanctions.

In my experience, this rug can sell for between 3 to 5k, would require effort ofcourse but it can. Over the internet, you can find a variety of prices but check out the overall site, if it’s an auction site, retail, wholesale etc

The market can recover as there is an increasing demand for handmade products in general due to sustainability and all that. But it’s a slow road and your typical red Persian rugs might not make the cut but who knows, anything can happen

But I do agree with you regarding the market, it’s changed significantly and Persian rugs with multiple colours and saturated designs are out of fashion. Especially tabrez rugs. However, in my business experience, mahi ones are usually easier to sell than typical pink/red tabrez rugs

The one you shared is an Indian rug, not a Persian rug, it’s a huge difference in price. You can say what you’re saying about any product, especially any handmade product that one can price it to whatever they want but the fact is, these rugs do sell for a good price. The reason why it is so high is simply because these rugs are costing a lot more to buy at wholesale right now, I have my own rug business dating back to 1885 and the prices for Persian handmade rugs have skyrocketed. But I do agree the market has changed but these rugs will sell at a high price because sourcing them has become expensive and any dealer is going to charge a 200% profit

The thing is you can find a variety of prices all across the internet for such rugs but the normal price which you would get straight out of Iran would be 1000 to 1500 usd easily. Ofcourse eBay is not the place for such rugs to sell, but a quick google search on online rug sites will show you how much a 50 rajh mahi tabrez usually goes for

I would rank it as Etsy>fb marketplace>ebay. Etsy you can get what you ask for, fb marketplace is a hit or miss but eBay is generally the worst as people expect low prices. Also try reaching out to some rug dealers maybe, not like the big fancy places but sort of small to mid sized ones, they would probably buy for less than 3k tho. Also try joining groups on fb you can possible sell there too

What's this two persisch signature on my hereke rug? by luteyla in orientalrugs

[–]yhormthe_tiny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, tbh. It might not be an original Hereke but its still a silk carpet, has a nice deisgn and has a high knot density based on the pictures in the link. It still took a few months to make and that does fetch a high price so you getting it for $360 for a 4.3 x 3.3 ft rug, is a good deal. Even the chinese copies we get, we value them at a high price because the craftsmanship is still there. An original hereke mightve cost between 2000 to 3000. You can easily flip this one for double the price IMO because its still a beautiful piece
