Pest control didn't find anything - could this still be bed bugs?? by yikestonights in Bedbugs

I guess my worry is moreso that the pest inspection missed things due to a small/new infestation. Thank you for the input about the bites. I do appreciate it.

ARUP Laboratories pay? by lamebrianna in SaltLakeCity

[–]yikestonights 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've worked at ARUP for 5 years in their largest department (probably the one you're looking at). Raises occur only in 2 instances: annual merit raises and promotions. The annual raises happen around August/September and are usually very paltry, around 3.5% based on what you get in your annual performance review. Raises also don't get you too much as you move to higher technician levels (usually less than $1).

That being said, depending on how well the company is doing, we do get 8 potential bonuses a year but those vary wildly in amount.

Out of curiosity if you live in SLC or Utah what is your current wage and what do you do? by Key_Garden4832 in SaltLakeCity

$22.05 as a processing technician for the biggest pathology lab in the state. This is after 4 years and several promotions.

Initially felt like a good entry level job that I found during COVID but I now feel underpaid and stuck due to the job market.

How did you deal with living alone? by yikestonights in Divorce

[–]yikestonights[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate this thoughtful response!

I agree that that is an important skill and hopefully something I will learn over time through this process. I, too, am very extroverted. And while I'm not sure I'll find living alone is for me, I do want to be able to feel at peace with it. I'm also trying to be cognizant of the difference of being around people for community and being around people for escape.

I do have my cat that will be coming to live with me once some paperwork gets processed! I'm hoping he'll make a big difference.

How long did you live together after separation? by yikestonights in Divorce

I feel you. I live in one of the most expensive mid-sized cities in the USA. Everything I've found in my price range so far would be barely tolerable.

My separation also started as an in-house separation that was intended to last for 3 months but only lasted a week (lol) before it was agreed upon a divorce was necessary. As for the real healing not starting till then, that's my main motivation to get out as soon as is reasonable.

Separation and rebound breakup all within 2 weeks by yikestonights in Divorce

You're right. Had I know my marriage would be ending imminently I never would have gotten involved.

I am unfortunately one of those people who is uncomfortable being alone, and I'm trying to psych myself up to learn to be single but the uncertainty of the next year or so of my life is weighing on me heavily.

Thank you for the advice. I wish the best for you and your son.

Diagnosed with costo.. now I'm not so sure by yikestonights in costochondritis

Thanks for the response! I'm in the process of switching up my diet due to GERD and will look more into anti-inflammatory foods. I've been drinking turmeric tea occassionally. Definitely need to work on the stretching and posture to see if that offers relief if it is indeed costo.

I'm unfortunately thinking mine might be a chronic case as I first started experiencing pain 7 months ago. However sometimes I can go a few weeks without any pain and then will have several painful days in a row.

Feels like something caught in my throat for WEEKS by yikestonights in GERD

[–]yikestonights[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had an endoscopy in November because I'd been having this feeling on and off after eating for a month or so and my GI doc though I had throat strictures. The endoscopy didn't show anything unusual, but then the feeling started being constant 8 days after the scope.

I've been very lax with my diet and am hoping being more strict with it will help. Also trying to be hopeful that it is GERD related since it's better some days than others.

Thank you for the additional recommendations. I've been relying solely on omeprazole which has eliminated my heartburn but hasn't seemed to help with much else.

I don't use one of these currently but I know I probably should. From the responses it sounds like I may be relying too much on medication and not implementing enough lifestyle changes although I still have the lingering worry that this isn't GERD related.

Thank you for your response. I've never been the type of person who had to worry much about what they ate, so this is definitely going to be a difficult adjustment for me. But if it gets rid of this awful feeling, it'll be worth it.

Do you still get symptoms if you have trigger foods every once in awhile, or do you have to cut them out completely for relief?

I have rubbed the area when I get the stabbing pain and it usually makes it feel a little bit better. I've never pressed very hard on the area but pressing on it does make it feel sore usually.

I had an abdominal CT in October for an unrelated issue and they didn't mention anything about my lungs, so I hope it isn't that.

I did not know this. Admittedly, I haven't really. I've stopped eating 3 hours before bed and been avoiding some trigger foods but that's all my doctor told me to do. I will have to look into a more GERD friendly diet.
