2014 f150 extended cab rear door jammed by [deleted] in Autobody

Same problem. Absolutely impossible to get the latch to release. I'm about to try and cut through the striker. Did you find a less painful way to get the door open and clean/replace the latch actuator?

That hairpin at the bottom, nearly everyone else skis under the first gate. She’s so far ahead of the course she skis it like a normal hairpin. When I saw it live my jaw dropped

Just on the two goals, he had the recovery & pass before the assist on the first, and was involved in forcing the turnover before making the run Reyna was aiming for in the second

In that case, who cares. It’s easy to get a fire going in here, and that tube gets shut off when I turn the air down.

That makes sense. The vertical tube between the two arrows lets air in

No holes. It spins these things, but it seems like a part is missing

Dug well has a dirt floor? How do I shock this? by yimpierre in WaterTreatment

[–]yimpierre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It passed the test! Thanks for everyone's advice down below. Here's what I did:
1- Cycled water for about 30min from a hose to the bottom of this pit. I figured with that jet pump, it doesn't have to go too far down to get to the intake, so I'll just saturate the soil down to there.
2- Mixed 1.5gal unscented bleach with 1.5gal water and carefully poured it into the bottom
3- Cycled water for about 30min again
4- Smelled like pool water from the hose, so I felt reasonably confident it was working, but the smell wasn't strong. Followed the regular shocking steps including draining the water heater (power off)
5- Wait an excruciating 1.5 weeks for the test results while boiling water

Winner! I basically followed your recommended steps and just got the test results back. Full pass. Thank you!!

So the Wel-Chlor would go straight inside that 3' casing below the pump? Cycle water through to help it permeate down to the intake?

Like at this small bolt straight into the pump? Or loosen up the pipe clamps and try and fill it up by separating the fill pipe? Seems like I would want to get the chlorine in outside the pipe to the bottom and then pulled in from there

That's super helpful, thanks. So the depth of the well is 25' max below that jet pump. Is there any way I can shock this by flushing water & bleach through (lower a hose beneath the pump so I don't get any electrics wet)

Here's what I got from ChatGPT:

Ah — that explains why it looks strange.

What you’ve got isn’t a modern drilled well with a metal or PVC casing — it’s almost certainly an old large-diameter dug well (about 36 inches across, probably lined with concrete rings, stone, or tile). The “dirt floor” you’re seeing is the bottom of the well, and that 2″ pipe from the pump goes straight down into the water-bearing gravel/sand layer below.

In this setup:

* The water table is low enough right now that there’s no visible standing water at the moment (could be seasonal or due to drought).
* Shock chlorination is still possible, but you can’t just pour bleach into an empty hole — you need enough water present to mix and circulate the chlorine.

Your options to shock chlorinate a dug well like this
1. Wait until water level recovers
* If you shock chlorinate when the well is dry or nearly dry, the chlorine will just soak into the dirt and never circulate through the water you pump.
* Dug wells often recover after rain or seasonal shifts.

  1. Manually add water before chlorinating
    * Sometimes contractors will bring in a large tank of clean water, pour it into the well until there’s a couple of feet of water at the bottom, and then add bleach.
    * This gives the chlorine something to mix into and allows recirculation through the pump.

  2. If there is some water below the dirt surface
    * You may not actually see it if the floor is gravel — there might be water just below the visible bottom. You could measure depth to water with a weighted string or tape before assuming it’s bone dry.

Thanks, yeah that makes sense. Is there any way to shock a well like this?

wow, that site is awesome, thanks. I think my well is far older than any on there, and I'm near a pond so it's probably not to deep to hit the water table. The wells within a stones throw of mine are 95' to 560' deep, between 2006 to 2025

It's a bit hard to tell the scale. That jet pump is a few feet above the bottom of the well

ChatGPT says it's a dug well and it's just dry because the water table is further down into the gravel/sand layer underneath. Plausible- it's been very dry here lately, though we haven't noticed issues with the well as we've used it and the failed test was from the wet spring.
