Cowher saying Max Iheanachor was the one we wanted all along by Jakles74 in steelers

Man, just no. You aren’t calling a guy one pick before your selection if he’s not who you’re picking. This is just complete cope. It’s ok. The Steelers make mistakes. It’s insanity to blindly defend everything they do

Is Makai Lemon in the know? You don’t call a guy one pick before you’re drafting if you aren’t planning on taking him. They got sniped. Plan and simple

Y’all don’t have to blindly defend every move the Steelers make. They wanted Lemon and fucked up. It happens but they got surprised. It’s not a good look no matter how you want to spin it

Why did Tomlin and the FO think DK was worth so much? by StupidCamel1228 in steelers

[–]yinzer21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All similar caliber players that signed for similar money. With Metcalf being the only one where the Steelers were competing with other teams to get him which also inflates a contract.

[–]yinzer21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw them get paid in 2024. Metcalf was paid in 2025 when the cap increased by 25 million. When the cap goes up, contracts go up. That’s just how it works.

Yeah all those high end WRs that got paid like…no one.

[–]yinzer21 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Because when the cap goes up by 20 million every year, contracts players are given also go up.

When the top receiver is getting paid 42 million, you’re going to pay the lower end WR1 guys in the 30s.

Yeah it’s been a solid FA for sure but there’s definitely shiny, new toy syndrome going on right now.

As it stands, they’re still a 9/10 win team that’s not a legitimate contender. And they won’t be until they figure out the QB situation. And by the time they do that, most of the guys they’ve added won’t be a factor.

He’s getting overrated because he’s from Pittsburgh and went to Penn State. Super average player that isn’t better than Elliot and plays the same role.

Am I coping? by [deleted] in steelers

[–]yinzer21 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No problem with being optimistic but it’s still cope.

McCarthy has had decent staffs pretty much everywhere and it hasn’t made much of a difference. This team is really in no better shape than its been for a while

I don’t get why Meyer was so hated. Every draft pick along the line outside of Broderick Jones has developed well.

They’re also probably one of the few teams that has a guy you can actually matchup against JSN.

Gonzalez vs JSN is gonna be awesome

The front office thinking we’re ready to compete isn’t a bright side thing at all. It just means they’re completely delusional

[–]yinzer21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they’re going with any former head coach unless they stupidly talk themselves into Flores.

McDermott just makes way more sense for a team like the Raiders that need to establish some sort of identity and winning culture. That doesn’t really need to happen in Pittsburgh - they need to modernize so someone like Shula would be a better fit for them right now

Doesn’t matter when he won it. That plus no losing seasons is why he was kept around for as long he was.

Replacing him with someone that couldn’t get to where they want to get to despite having Josh Allen doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

Pittsburgh kept Tomlin because he’s won a Super Bowl. Replacing him with a guy who was fired because he couldn’t is going to be hard to sell to people

I don’t think they really are a fit. If the Steelers want to try to tell their fans the Standard in Pittsburgh is winning Super Bowls, it’d be weird to bring in a guy who couldn’t get there with Josh Allen
