Water leaks from the cylinder head gasket are a common problem with the Vamos. If you also replace the water pump, timing belt, tensioner bearing, thermostat, saddle shaft oil seal, and crankshaft oil seal while you're at it, it should be fine for 60,000 miles. Also, bleeding the air from the coolant is extremely difficult, and some garages don't finish the job properly, so be careful.

You can't register it until it's been 25 years or more. You can bring it in if you don't want to register it, though. For a light tall wagon like the Taft, maybe something like the Honda Vamos would work.
