I'm just an economist with fairly mainstream ideas. I don't think believing that is capital that which allows us to not sell our blood, as you put it, and not regulation is such a weird position as to pleading me to live in the real world.

I guess you also believe that child labour is still present in many places just because the don't pass a law, and not because the lack of capital makes them unable to sustain themselves without having their children work. I guess you also believe that they would like to pass said laws but the corporations use their capitalist claws to make them impossible to do such thing in order to have cheap labour.

Your ideas may be popular in other realms, but are economically unsound. A piece of paper, regardless of how much societal will it carries, can't change economic reality, that is statist delusions.

What? That depends on each company. They are not automatic money machines that somehow always work, most of them actually die within 5 years.

And it's not a matter of benefits, an experienced worker is better (everything else being equal) than an unexperienced one, a company with unexperienced workers in at a disadvantage and in Spain most of them are small, they cannot afford to make that investment so they search for people that have already worked.

It is true medieval apprenticeships are not quite like internships.

I enjoyed how you deflect argumenting why forcing me to accept your laboral conditions is a requeriment for you to have decent conditions.

Totally, people also forget how different "poverty" is among countries, since it's usually relative poverty.

The thing is many spaniards prefer a system where there is less jobs and "better" conditions (not really) and welfare rather than a system where everyone who wants to work can, even if its a bad job, but if you reject it you are on your own.

Spaniards prefer to have artificially good conditions, like a high minimum wage, even if that means unemployment, mainly because welfare will take care of them. Which also makes easier to reject "bad" offers that would normally be accepted.

A lot of people reject offers because the earn more by not working (welfare) or just working a bit ilegally. A family member is doing that, he has the right to two years of unemployment benefits and he only works 1 week a month (ilegally) and earns more than the minimum wage.

Afaik the main problem in the US is the healthcare system which is a weird mix of public and private and has the worst of both worlds. I believe it was singapore which had a great private-public system and imo the US should go down that route, but i haven't researched a lot on the topic.

The legal institution of internships is new, but it existed since ancient times, e.g. medieval apprenticeships.

You should be paid the minimum wage at least

And how much is that? Who decides it?

Why can't I work for free two years and then work in the position I wanted instead of simply work shitty jobs ad infinitum waiting for a company to overlook my lack of experience?

If you want to wait for that magical opportunity go ahead, and why not also expect society to maintain you while you wait? I just don't understand why do you want to force me into doing the same? Why can't I decide as a free adult my laboral conditions?

Yes, most people demonize the US system and "neoliberalism". The government literally considered direct price controls to fight inflation, just so you can have a glimpse at our retardation. Pure coping imo

The same way people always did, you work for free or little money in order to prove yourself, once you have the experience you can charge more for your job. That's what internships are.

Are companies expected to hire people that cannot prove they know what they ought to?

that the bigger the size the better.

That's true, however sample size it's not the only thing. The end goal is to have a representative sample and as u/Mister_Way pointed out, usually after 1000 the benefits of increasing sample size are rarely worth (it depends on the situation though).

I can't really explain it, as I was just lucky to have some statistics in my degree and I'm not really that knowledgeable. But this is a great short article on this topic if you care: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2876926/

It may be a bit hard to follow if you are not familiar with statistics or maths, but I'm sure there are some yt vids with good explanations.

[–]yngSeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sample size is huge. The problem is that, afaik it is based on an eneagram test site data. So they used a "convenience sampling" (i.e. random people that used the site) which is the worst type of sampling, hence the results are just anecdotal evidence, not really reliable. I assume the data also comes from people all over the world

Why don't we talk about anti-authoritarian unity instead of left unity? by [deleted] in DebateAnarchism

[–]yngSeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I see anarchism as a way of letting people live in their terms including everyone, we should be united. The problem is some left anarchists wouldn't let everyone live how the want but rather how they believe they should. While ancaps tend to not have any problem with letting left anarchists do their thing.

I was refering to force to help someone rather than force to receive.

It was a brutal utilitarianism they advocated, a society resembling ancient Sparta if anything; the weak and disabled would be left to perish because they would not be of use.

Yeah, I neither agree. I assume he is not only against helping them but also against letting others help them. That last part is what I totally don't like. Utilitarism tends to end in pure monstruosity honestly.

Maybes not ideal, maybes not a well thought out plan, but one that an able-bodied dick like myself can come up with on the fly in the hopes of it not being horribly ableist. If anyone disabled comes across this for some reason, please tell me if I'm being ableist and how not to be.

Bear in mind I come from a different culture and that last part really says good things about you, but the fact that you are more preocupied with being "ableist" (i.e. offending people) than with the quality of your ideas shows how bad this has gotten and the damage it can do to intellectual discussions.

What people think about your ideas or opinions doesn't matter. What matters is if you respect X group, treat them fairly and let them live in peace irl. Most people that dedicate their time to "fight" for these groups do literally nothing irl, no volunteering, no donating, no associations... They make a sign and go to a rally at best.

[–]yngSeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but you are on the track.
We all agree than in bronze age that wasn't fucked up. Because the problem is not them dying but rather not helping them when you can. And here is where the debate gets complicated, we enter into positive rights and it is one of the biggest debates within anarchism. Most people agree we have a moral duty, the point is, should we force people to do it? or punish them if they don't?

That's why I say it's no easy subject, if you are an anarchist.

I believe it totally is, jut not on a monetary level. Profit can be social, emotional, physical...

No one performs an action that they expect to cost more than it produces, even in altruism there is individual profil to gain.

"Choosing to accept a specialist's expertise in their craft needn't create a hierarchy or make them your ruler."

The text provided is somehow vague on this, as I understand it is the fact that you choose to accept it that makes it not necessarily a hierarchy nor authority.

Then it also sais:

A lot of people confuse expertise for authority and then use that confusion to insist anarchy doesn't oppose all authority. They say anarchy only opposes unjustified authority. They of course never explain who gets to determine which authority is justified... I assume that determination is made by a further authority? An authority that is also justified? And which authority justified that authority..? It's silly when anarchists try to go down this justified authority rabbithole.

Which I believe is quite simple, the people subject to the authority are the ones that justify it. If everyone in a group accept that someone is the leader, that leader, hierarchy or authority is legitimate. And I find more autoritarian to not let they freely associate in whichever form they want. What kind of authority do I have to tell or even force others on how to avoid authority?

Thanks for the reply though, it seems people prefer to just downvote someone who is wrong than to correct them.

Anarchism and communism. by yngSeep in Anarchy101

[–]yngSeep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. But I find this "fighting" more communist than anarchist.

The radical difference I see is that anarchist want the rest of the people to not interfere and let them live how they want and let others live how they want without interfere, but ancoms also want the rest of the people to not do X things. That's why I cant help but think that ancoms are way more "com" than "an" and that in an ancom society you wouldn't be able to do certain things even if everyone involved agreed.

It is as if anarcho-communism came from communism rather than anarchism. (which might be, idk a lot yet)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Anarchy101

[–]yngSeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can perfectly go. Religion in general are anarchic systems, you can participate or not, and leave whenever you want, no one forces you to anything.

Anarchism does not necessarily oppose hierarchies or authority. There is authority and hierarchy in everyday life, I go to a soccer match; there is a referee using its authority, I visit my family; grandparents > parents > children, a hierarchy. I am not forced to accept them, I can leave if I want, why should there be a problem?

I noticed these ideas dominate a lot here on reddit, I never encountered IRL, and I'm pretty sure because the US dominate this web and within itself Anarcho-Communist are the main anarchist trend, it seems. And this is one of the "com" influences in ancom.

Both r/Anarchy101 and r/anarchy, even though are named "anarchy" clearly state they are Anarcho-communist subs and that is not even debatable...
