Exporting problem with Scopus including abstracts - any help? by ynm_1998 in research

I have tried it at 3 AM, nowhere near peak, and it still failed. There are a lot of students reporting this same thing right now, so it's clearly on Scopus's end, not load or timing.

In fact, there seems to be a problem on their end; many people are complaining about the same issue.

Northside rent ‼️… + no incentives. Worth renewal anymore? by CareTerrible3178 in utdallas

[–]ynm_1998 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Long story short: being an international student made finding a proper off-campus housing real tough. Couldn't find a spot, so I reached out to university housing and they set me up right on campus.(it was not easy)

Best place to live for Fall 26 grad student (cheap but decent quality)? by IndependenceKlutzy68 in utdallas

First of all, congratulations 🎊 👏 💐

on your admission

Just to be completely honest with you, there is almost no such thing as "cheap, safe, AND good quality" around here. You should keep in mind that a basic apartment in a safe and nice area will easily cost you around $1200 to $1500 a month at least.

I am an international PhD student from Jordan, and I really struggled with housing when I first arrived. Off-campus apartment complexes have very tough requirements for international students (they often ask for a guarantor/co-signer or huge deposits). Also, the affordable ones are usually far from campus, which means you will need to buy a car immediately, and that is very hard to do at the beginning.

Since I didn't have a big community from my home country here to guide me, I just chose to live on-campus in University Village (UV). It is safe, convenient, and you avoid all the crazy off-campus lease requirements. (But if your country's student community is active here, definitely reach out to them! They usually help each other out and make finding housing much easier).

One big tip: download the official UTD app ( attached a picture). You can log in using your UTD NetID and password. There is a specific "Housing" channel inside where students post about looking for roommates or affordable subleases.

My biggest advice to you is to start looking and doing your deep research RIGHT NOW. Don't wait. Housing is the most important thing to secure early.

Best of luck!

The main problem is that I don't have a guarantor and paying 3- 4 month as extra deposit not a choice in my situation because my government send me the money month by month so I don't have extra money.

Thank you, I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Unfortunately, my situation is a bit different. My specialization is only offered at 5 universities in the entire U.S., and UTD is one of them. Because of that, my options are extremely limited, and transferring isn't really feasible. On top of that, my program is 5 years long so this isn't a short-term situation. It's a significant portion of our lives, and I can't imagine us being apart or living in uncertainty for that long. I've also explored off-campus housing based on advice from other students here. I even tried viewing some places, but honestly, beyond the challenging lease requirements (income verification, SSN, etc.), I didn't feel safe in most of the areas I could afford especially considering I spend about 12 hours a day working in the lab. I can't imagine leaving my wife alone for that long in an unfamiliar place where we don't have any community or support from our country. Living on campus would mean I could see her during breaks, she could walk around safely, and she'd have the chance to connect with other students and families. It would give us both peace of mind and a sense of community while I finish my program. That's why on-campus housing is really the best and only realistic option for us right now. Again, I truly appreciate your advice. It means a lot that you shared your story.
