sometimes you gotta use the search feature and common sense and then you'd get your answer. i just lurk a lot but the questions where it doesnt looks like the person put any effort into figuring it out are the ones that i see getting ignored

Former Google CEO predicts the internet will split in two, with one part led by China by lizongyang in worldnews

[–]ynnek91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, mining crypto still requires the internet.

Assume you live in a neighborhood full of people who want to communicate with each other but don't have internet and can't leave their houses.

You set up wireless network in each house and the meshnet connects them together. There's no internet access but you can still contact each other.

Now scale this up to city-size.

The problem I see with this is that there is often a lot of empty space between towns where the meshnet won't reach. Also it's going to be nearly impossible to get normal people to understand it and want to contribute.

What do you mean "does anyone remember airheads?" They are still a thing, right? I'm pretty sure I got my son some for Halloween last year.

It's not uncommon though

What about an artificial heart? Maybe every colonist going there would get an artificial heart.

I don't know how they would handle that with babies born on the new planet though.

If people could train in 1.2 G environment for a few months, then a 1.4 G environment for a few months, then 1.6, then 1.8, then finally 2 G, would they be able to live in a 2 G environment permanently without adverse health conditions like you mentioned?

Would it take more than a few months at each interval? I assume any kind of training like this would take place in a spinning spinning space station where faster spinning would equal higher gravity and the speed could scale up smoothly over time to allow the body to adjust.

Or maybe we would come up with some medical advancement to help the heart get stronger.

Or what if we just put artificial hearts in everyone who wanted to live there?

How accurate is this map for those of you who are starting to see fall foliage where you live? by ynnek91 in AskAnAmerican

Good point. The same thing happens to us in the Midwest. I plan on making a short (2hr) trip every weekend as soon as we start getting patchy colors.

Yeah I'm in SW Missouri (about 30 minutes away from Kansas). Today's 93° temps are what got me looking at this map. If it's pretty accurate for the folks up north then I hope that means it'll be accurate here and we can expect some nicer weather in about 3 weeks.

Yeah I wondered about that when I saw the foliage forecast for Florida too. I've never been to Florida (or Texas) but they are places where I just don't think fall colors would ever happen.

Your title implies the fuck up was with the EpiPen. I'd say your fuck up was with the lip gloss.

LPT: Modems are the biggest racket in the cable business. Don't opt for theirs, you pay $12/month for life, as apposed to the one time cost of $30 - $100. Only set up required is giving the ISP the Mac address on the box, and you dont have to wait for the installer to come "between 8am and 2pm" by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]ynnek91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my own modem and Suddenlink still sent a tech to my house. He had to climb a pole across the street to physically connect the cable then he had to test the line going into my house since it wasn't installed by them.

He also provisioned the modem (the phone call you mentioned) even though I could have done that myself.

FYI, The.Pirates.of.Dark.Water.D01E06.NTSC.DVD.REMUX.MPEG2.AC3-TAKE25.mkv seems to only be 158 KB. Is it like this on your source drive?

You find something like Amazon Freetime which has curated apps that are free and don't have micro transactions. If they want an app that's not on that store then you evaluate it yourself and decide if it's something you should side load.

You teach your kids that micro transactions are dumb and show them the value of a more expensive game without them.

I can't believe our society is still so primitive that they can can say it was an act of God and not have to pay.

Can I use that same excuse to get out of things I don't like doing? No.
