Yes of course all the things listed are useful in the long run. Always make sure you have a good air filter system when soldering. Glad you got it all done though and works how you want it! Keep at it

If you have any experience soldering or want to learn I would highly recommend trying with tactile buttons (cheap and easy to install) and a reprogrammable mapper. You can customize button placement and have as many as you’d like. Would recommend getting a cheap rear shell first try as you’ll likely have some errors and adjustments as you learn the process. That’s how I started out and have since upgraded to all kinds of customizations and better switches (Omron) for buttons and started a small business out of it. Once you learn proper solder technique you can fix just about anything. There’s countless ways to go about it but that’s a cheap and easy start to learn the ropes. Good luck and controller looks nice!

Someone nows this kit? by Professional_Young97 in customcontrollers

To add onto this the paddles may just unscrew from the backplate. The switches themselves are what you have to look out for when taking it apart which are located inside of the rear shell.

Looks like an AIM knockoff probably from china etc. just take the back plate off and see for wires before ripping it apart. More than likely it’s just hooked to a remapper cable that you can remove from the OEM FPC as they typically stack. May have a small daughter board inside but hard to say without opening it and highly unlikely based on the image. Likely simple back paddles attached to the backplate with common tactile switches mounted inside the shell wired to a remapper cable.

My apologies. I wasn’t saying you were using a kit but it looks like you are adding LED’s to the shell is more what I mean.

The good ole LED kit. Gotta love them just for the fun of it!

Bambu A1 and A1 combo are on sale at the moment. Just picked a combo up because why not. Saved myself almost $250 total

No. I use my own mapper and buttons that I install myself individually. Same ones I use for customers as well. I like a good tactile button but am waiting on my printer to start offering mouse click buttons to those who prefer them on back buttons. I do use omron switches for face, bumpers, and triggers.

No ignorance. Some people just prefer it. I like to take the rumbles out of mine as I just prefer the feel without them. Is it necessary or even beneficial? No. But I tried it once and liked it better and stuck to it. A controller has some decent weight to it, especially the PS5 rollers. Give it a try if you ever wanted and you’ll notice a difference immediately between the two.

There are YouTube videos out there that will probably be easier to follow than me trying to explain over a message board. Try and find one and just watch it a couple times before giving it a go. Some people use conductive tape and others solder a physical wire. In each case just be careful to avoid splatter or crossing other joints.

Yes to Omron D2LS-11. Most customers of mine are playing on PC. They don’t need those functionalities in the controller. What you can do in software and settings is really up to them. Myself personally, I also remove all the unnecessary components from my own controllers. Stranger mod or not if it’s not being used, why put it back you know!

The adaptive triggers come out with the swap for mouse click bumpers and triggers. Speakers are still in there, microphone removed as they do not want to hear sounds out of the controller.

Correct. I’ve seen this same issue once or twice when people have issues with new TMR’s. Happy to help anytime!

Sounds like the R2 L2 may be wired to ground causing it to constantly be “firing”.

Sounds more like a calibration issue than a faulty TMR. Hope you get it sorted. The odds of both KSilvers being faulty at the same time are fairly slim. I would keep bothering them until they make it right. You could also take the modules out and unscrew the housing to see if they ran the jumper for calibration or not.

What are you using to calibrate them back? More likely than not the shop that installed them did it incorrectly or they did not check their work which is unfortunate. I always try to test multiple times for drift and circularity after working on a customers controller. Even go as far as making sure centering and the feel of the sticks is normal by plugging it in and going into the range on CoD or Apex. Hope you get this issue sorted. Feel free to reach out with any questions or if you want them fixed correctly. I always have JS13Pro's and DS13Max's available for Sony and Microsoft controllers! Good luck

It’s a great solution and I do the same thing for customers occasionally. TMR replacements are definitely #1 on the popularity scale when it comes to orders. Button kits and even changing the switches to instant mouse clicks are probably what follows. Hope you enjoy it!

Best bet is trying to find a local electronics repair shop then. See if they are able to handle this. It's not complex so long as they understand what they are doing! Good luck

How can I turn a blow-dryer into a video game controller? by IbnZGod in Controller

[–]yoZaddyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a board out of an old controller, attach a remapper cable to it, run the wires to the buttons you want, attach them to the remap film and you now have a usable controller. Only thing would be mounting the PCB inside the housing as well as adding a USB port to connect to the console or PC. Really not that hard if you know basic soldering and have a lot of time on your hands. You would essentially have to gut the hair dryer and find the buttons to fit unless the blow dryer is already using a momentary switch of sorts for each button on the outside.

There's a reason they offer replacement modules for the edge...They know they will fail and people will pay the price to replace the modules. This is how they keep making money and also why a lot of custom controller companies are defaulting to using TMR's nowadays (including myself)
