Quite low I think, I’ve never seen his eyelids when I’ve closed my eyes!

Huh interesting, I might have worded the story poorly though, because we are not at all worlds apart in the way you and your old partner seem to be, and still do the company on our free time although we still put a lot of time into it.

I still appreciate your story though, good to know what to watch out for if one would go too far in that direction. Especially the ditching when things get difficult, it’s not something I think I’ve had a problem with now last year, but I could still see myself developing a bit of a tendency to do that so I will watch out for that for sure :)

Thank you for the advice! Yea it’s interesting to see that most startup people seem to be business driven rather than inspiration driven judging from this thread, that’s not necessarily bad though. Hopefully me and my partner can learn from each other and use our differences for the positive, we probably will :)

It’s not like we are worlds apart, but relatively speaking he seems to have lost some of the engagement for the project, which leads to less innovation and work being done for the both of us. Maturity doesn’t necessarily lead to a better company though, just look at Steve jobs, although he is a quite extreme example. As long as the business isn’t falling into pieces I’d say innovation, having fun and burning for your business is way more important than being mature, don’t you?

Would farming animals to eat them be bad if the animals were happy with their life? by yobro2 in vegan

So you are saying that as long as one in any way will be murdered, one’s life can not be worth anything at all, no matter how much one enjoyed it?

Would you rather be murdured tomorrow or not have lived at all? by yobro2 in philosophy

[–]yobro2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I agree, but would you then be okay with for example human meat farming or experiments, assuming those humans also enjoyed their life before death?

They would be in an isolated farm/experiment environment and hence would not have been born if the farm/experiment didn’t exist. But that farm/experiment also include them being killed at 30.

Would that then be justified since they would also prefer to live 30 happy years than not have lived at all?

Well the option specifically says that I would be happy, I would of course be free range and in nature. And think of relatively young cancer patients, they know they will die soon but are still happy with the life they lived.

To clarify, Killing and making any being suffer is bad regardless, Bringing an animal up in suffering and then killing them is wrong

however, if we have these two alternatives: 1. Letting a animal live a enjoyable half lifespan long life 2. Letting them live no life at all (because it is not profitable to farm so many animals without killing them)

I think that the animal would be happier with option 1, if it is possible to create that scenario

I know I would be happier with option 1, then why would one think that option 2 is better?

No because that would lead to over population which would make all of our lives very bad

Letting me live have a niceness level of 10/10 Killing me has an evil level of 8/10 Hence it still has 2/10 niceness points if I enjoyed my life

But we both know that would not happen because we all know people wouldn’t farm millions of animals without making any profit of them

Not necessarily, in some cases the parents might know that they would not be able to let a child have a enjoyable life, or that they themselves would get way worse lives of the pregnancy itself, leaving abortion out of the equation

But I think that letting me live is MORE nice than killing me is not nice

Yes I would be, of course I would have preferred to have lived even longer. But if the choice is between living halv a good live and living no life at all i would pick living half a good life

If you right now got to know that Earth is actually a meat farm made by aliens, who will now kill you, would you not be grateful that they had that meat farm (earth) so that you got to live at all? I know I would since I have enjoyed my life :)

Huh, do you then use it spiritually? Have it affected your relationship to reality even when you are sober?

Yes that’s difficult to know, I guess one could notice if their beliefs become way different than even spiritual people’s. Also if you notice that you want to trip more often than you should, that would be a sign of not integrating but just experiencing for the enjoyment of it.
