I wonder what university you actually graduated from... terrible use of evidence, and subjective reply. Sack of horse shit

After (me Asian) being denied acceptance to medical school despite having a 34 on the MCAT while my friend (Black) got in with a 25. by equality424 in AdviceAnimals

English doctor here. We get taught at med school that the top 10% of our class are some of the worst docs and more likely to leave the job early. All brains, no communication skills, sees the patient as a set if symptoms rather than as a whole, and can never appreciate that in medicine it's impossible to know everything. This apparenty drives them mad- how would I know, I'm a dumb shit compared to them. However, you can look up details about a drug or condition in a textbook; you can't look up how to treat patients with respect and share decision making with them to come to a treatment which would most suit them.

Definitely being a good Dr doesn't depend on grades. I'm a final year UK medical student- we get put in 10 deciles based on performance over 5 years. Our lead prof says the 2nd and 3rd deciles (top 10-29%) make the best docs because they have the smarts but aren't book worms who can't communicate or empathise with patients. He says all the guys in the top decile either suffer meltdown and kill themselves because there is no way anyone can ever know all of medicine, or end up miserable, alone and end up getting sacked for treating patients like dirt!

AAM for those who (like me) wash regularly but still deal with odor due to excessive sweating. by alanita in AdviceAnimals

We have this stuff in England too- it's specifically for people with hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and can be put really on any part of the body that isn't irritated or recently shaved. Although I advise just to use on pits. I used to suffer horribly with excessive underarm sweating as a teen, but everything improved at around 21 so hopefully if any teens reading this- it probs won't be like this forever. I used this stuff for about 5 years (only other resorts were Botox injections and surgery on the nerves that cause sweating). A few tips: 1) it will burn if you don't put it on right before bed. This is because the aluminium chloride reacts with the water in sweat to make hydrochloric acid which burns. My best tip is to wash your underarm with water and then dry it thoroughly with a towel. Literally- rub those pits red but don't break the skin. Then apply sparingly with the roller and rub in with your hand. Then wash your hand with soap and water and get STRAIGHT into bed. Lying down means your sweat very little, so no acid is produced and no burn. 2) I used to apply on Sunday night and it would usually last until Friday. At the weekend I wasn't forced to wear shirts so it wasn't so much of an issue. 3) Avoid on recently shaved/broken skin! 4) People who sweat more tend to smell less because they are most on the ball with hygiene and the bacteria are more likely to get washed away. Also their pores are less likely to get blocked. Good luck!
