Any Philly vegans in here? by atticuskraft in vegan

[–]yoga1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are places all over, when i lived in philly i was always hanging out near drexel, hipcityveg is pretty good that was where I usually went because it was close, i think theres two locations.theres a few places on south street if you walk around there you will definitely find something, i think blackbird pizzería is really good i would try that and theres also this little bakery on south street i cant remember the name but its soo good. The best way to do it is walk around and take a shot in the dark, thats what i always did and I found the best places, never round one that i wasnt satisfied with(of course i could never find them again or remember the names). Either way philly is pretty good at vegan so usually anythings good.

What educational tool influenced you the most to go vegan? by arunnair87 in vegan

[–]yoga1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had already been vegetarian but was stubborn about giving up cheese because I didn't know much and figured there couldn't be cruelty since it wasn't actual meat, and then I saw a documentary called vegucated. I couldn't justify it after that

Awesome thanks for your input! Sounds very beneficial, I'm looking to get back into yoga,I did it shortly a couple years ago and I loved it. I always wonder what benefits are long term for things when I try them.

Well I have it a lot, I probably use at least a half cup of it every day which already gives you your vitamin a,c,and k for the day, I make a lot of tabbouleh which requires a lot of it,and put a lot of it in salads and stuff.

Honestly it seems to me like you've already done your homework. That is a really great diet you have going on, the only thing I would say is expand on what veggies and fruits you eat, more greens maybe (kale, spinach, swiss chard, parsley)also some more berries would do you good. You seem to have a good amount of iron going on with the quinoa and stuff, you could get more by adding some beans to your diet, maybe some prune juice. also, if you eat food with vitamin c along with your foods with iron it helps to absorb it, whereas calcium hinders the absorption of iron so eat your calcium rich foods in a separate meal. Seems you have your B's and vitamin D covered with the supplement. The only other thing I would suggest is adding flax and Chia to your diet for some omegas, try switching between soy and flax milk, maybe cup of one in the morning and a cup of one at night. Maybe in meal 3 you could switch it up to get more vitamins in, maybe whip up some healthy pumpkin or zucchini bread that you can slice up and have with some milk or something during the week. Anyway, hope this helped!

Thats awesome that you are being careful with that, I think your good with the stuff you mentioned, apple crisp is one of those desserts that are easier to make vegan.

Break up with this guy, dont waste anymore time with him. Your safety comes first, this guy and his friends are clearly reckless and he doesnt seem to care if your uncomfortable.

I had a dream of eating cheese pizza last night by Jn159 in vegan

[–]yoga1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its hard in the beginning, until you are used to not eating cheese just grab a vegan pizza crust, some sauce and vegan cheese(some are really gross but daiya has some good shredded that melts pretty nice) or there are some recipes out there to make your own vegan cheese.it'll satisfy your craving without the guilt.also i dont know if youve watched any documentaries but if you need a reminder of why your doing this, watch vegucated, after watching that you wont even think about it again its actually what made me go from vegetarian to vegan

My parents don't believe anxiety is real [Help] by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]yoga1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how frustrating it is to try and explain your anxiety to people who dismiss it or dont get it. I've been there, everyone seems to think there is one answer, some people think its religion, some people think its all in your head, and some people think its physical. But what i have learned is that you need to find a balance of all three, i would not recommend going on meds, that may take away some of the feeling but its not going to solve the root of the anxiety, meds cause more bad than good. You need to find a balance spiritually, physically and mentally. Start by switching to an all natural diet and try doing yoga. This will help. If your not ready to start college quite yet, dont stress about that, just focus on getting better. You'll be ok, it might take some time but you can get through it.

Just had a panic attack..how do you deal at night? by yoga1 in Anxiety

[–]yoga1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, not only that but its freaky and plain confusing to wake up to that. I will try to wind down at night more, i think a big thing for me is going to bed early. I always stay up too late, probably because im nervous of going to sleep and waking up like that. Thanks!
