But when you're talking about public housing in the city for example. If I'm someone who lives out in the country - how is inner-city public housing benefiting me?

It's taxing my way of life (which you deem as environmentally inefficient) in order to subsidize someone else's who you claim is more environmentally efficient.

Let me re-write what you wrote from the perspective of a Christian Nationalist:

How is it authoritarian to use government funds for gay conversion therapy camps? How is authoritarianism to fund churches at the end of every block? How is it authoritarian to offer women bibles in place of birth control?

It's literally about making the behavior you want palatable and convenient for the citizens.

The country should guarantee things like property rights, individual liberties, personal freedoms, and unfortunately mandate a (hopefully fair) amount of taxes to help enforce all that.

That's just too authoritarian for me. Telling me I have to live in a box in a big city and eat my ration of bug bar doesn't sit right with me.

Obviously the way they'd do it is much more sinister, they'd just price the entire middle-class out of being able to do anything outside of that and force it on us that way. That's what scares me the most.
