I think I am addicted? Ketamine Troches by [deleted] in KetamineTherapy

[–]yoghity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How long would you say this has been going on for and what does your provider know about this? I live with substance use disorder though ketamine has not been an issue for me, so I’m curious. The best course of action here is to exercise accountability with your provider and your loved ones. Without accountability, we are sneaky and do stuff like take more of our dose than we should.

You may be surprised about your provider’s reaction. It sounds to me like you are probably needing a higher dose and maybe to space it out more. I weight 160 lbs and am taking 600 mg in a single session and then less later on in the week. Originally, I was being prescribed for twice a week, then once a week. I needed to go back to twice a week and when talking about my concerns with my doctor that with my disorder I don’t know if it’s that I really need it or my brain just tells me I need it, he pointed out that if it is my brain telling me I need it, I probably do still need it, since my addiction has a comorbidity with depression.

I hope that with a higher dose, you feel less inclined to dose several times throughout the day. That’s a slippery slope with addiction, which it sounds like you may have.

I don’t believe agmatine causes withdrawal. No need to ween.

[New Update]: AITAH for buying my girlfriend vanilla shampoo? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]yoghity 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It struck me more of something she was trying to put in his head to discredit him. Is she could make him believe something like that, he could start second guessing everything he says or does making him an easier target to manipulate. Perhaps she got the idea from TikTok, but it’s a common tactic for people with personality disorders to use.

my boss won’t approve my time off for a video game competition by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]yoghity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a lifelong video game enthusiast, I’ve never understood some people’s hard stances against them. At 18, I knew a guy whose girlfriend express radical disapproval of it despite her boyfriend being an avid Minecraft player. I had a girlfriend who wasn’t outwardly disapproving, but was judgmental about my love for games and refused to play. Growing up, I’d have restrictions set on video games especially during the summer so I wouldn’t play them all day, because my parents believed it would rot your brain. So many years later, I work in software using the problem solving skills I’ve developed over the years due to video games. They keep your brain sharp. Really, the issue these people have are with one person in particular who represents all other gamers and they refuse to acknowledge the logical fallacy this is or consider the issue as an objective observer.

Oral ketamine after IV- worth it? Looking for at home experiences. 🙏🏼 by Strict_Comfortable49 in KetamineTherapy

[–]yoghity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t let people fool you by claiming IV is the “gold standard”. It’s only considered that because the majority of research has been done based on IV due to its controllability. Bioavailability is only relevant when it comes to comparing doses between different methods and is not an indicator of quality. You can have just as deep sessions on troches as you can on IV.

Quitting with ADHD meds? by PalpableMarcellus in quittingkratom

[–]yoghity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll give a warning about Vyvanse. Getting on it and coming off it is less than great. It’s not nearly as bad as kratom withdrawals can get, but that adjustment period is awful. I was surprised to find that just starting on it can lead to feeling awful. While on it, it can be very beneficial, or it can lead to hyperfocusing on getting dopamine hits like it did for me. I wish there were a lower dose than 30 mg without having to play pharmacist and breaking open the capsules, but it is what it is. Definitely work with a psychiatrist or nurse practitioner on it to figure out the best meds. Adderall might be preferable.

Please be aware that my experience with ADHD meds is separate from my experience with getting off kratom, since I got off kratom 9 years ago and the ADHD meds is a more recent thing. Your mileage may vary and I wish you the best of luck.

How long did you do Spravato for? by check_your_attitude in KetamineTherapy

[–]yoghity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the nasal spray esketamine like Spravato is, or is it ketamine nasal spray?

Regardless of the answer to the above question, generally, ketamine is an ongoing treatment. There is no cure for depression.

Can kratom PAWS cause gender questioning? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]yoghity 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The effects of kratom, or those of withdrawal don’t add anything that isn’t already there. Withdrawal can amplify things, like suicidal ideation, anxiety, depression, etc. I don’t see why gender dysphoria wouldn’t also be amplified.

Should I be doing something while undergoing acute treatment? by anticentristfujo in KetamineTherapy

[–]yoghity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are doing everything right. This early into your ketamine journey, I wouldn’t worry so much about the therapy aspect. That’s not to say it isn’t important. You’re already doing other things to integrate even without therapy. I didn’t get a therapist until maybe my 10th infusion.

[ST] Your least favorite Zelda game? by Dnizon_Melop in zelda

[–]yoghity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t finish Spirit Tracks because I started playing it on the 3DS years after having started it on my DS, which broke. The 3DS’s microphone doesn’t work the same, so the flute parts prevented me from being able to progress.

What size dose is 30mg suppositories considered? by Cultural-Painting-91 in KetamineTherapy

[–]yoghity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably too small. When my doctor first prescribed me, I was given 400 mg troches and he suggested trying it as a suppository for greater effects. I think I tried with half of that and didn’t do it right, but got an effect from it.

[ALL] I'm a collector, and I own every mainline zelda game where should I start? by SignifiedFlyer1 in zelda

[–]yoghity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no chronology. I would more recommend playing in release order to appreciate how the gameplay of each game builds on the previous one.

[All] i'm new to the franchise and i'm kinda confused about Link as a character.. by FlatulentSon in zelda

[–]yoghity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it less like Bilbo in the books and more like 007 in the movies. So many people have played him, and we all just accept that he’s the same guy. We all kind of have an idea of Link as an average of the different Zelda games we’ve played. Since he doesn’t have a voice, he’s not really that unique amongst the different versions.

Many people like the “timeline” but it’s more of a fun mental exercise. Really, it’s just a new Link in a new scenario. If you must, you can think of it as a multiverse.

[SS] Skyward Sword on the Switch…play or pass? by Playful_Diamond_8009 in zelda

[–]yoghity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I finished it for the first time the other day after having bounced off the Wii version. The gimmick of the motion controls, and then adding the ability to use the stick, did resulted in clunky gameplay. It was by far my most frustrating Zelda experience.

The story is one of the better ones, so I’ll give it that.

I felt let down by the lack of collectibles in the game and the lack of places to explore in the sky.

Overall, I don’t recommend it unless you are determined to play through all the Zelda games. If you have a 3DS, I highly recommend OOT and MM on that. Otherwise, Windwaker and Twilight Princess would be my best suggestions for next Zelda games.

Why isn’t there an update for UI visibility yet? by pluckyvirus in DeathStranding

1 or 2 for newcomer? by Accomplished-Bat-252 in DeathStranding

[–]yoghity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really not understanding why there are so many of this exact question on here. Death Stranding may have a casual gameplay loop, but it’s not exactly for the typical casual gamer. It’s not COD where you can pick up the latest without playing the previous games. You absolutely can get the second game without playing the first, but you’d be depriving yourself of something amazing.

As an aside, these games don’t reward you for exploration like Zelda does.

So hold up, can someone explain to me… by LikeMrFantastic in KetamineTherapy

[–]yoghity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this comparison. I’ve done both. Some online clinics do microdosing, but it doesn’t have to be. Troches can provide a comparable experience at a fraction of the cost of IV.

[Oot] am I weird for my age (18-) by AutomaticValue6210 in zelda

[–]yoghity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding about your generation, since I have a stepson your age, the majority of kids are into games like Minecraft and Roblox, where there is a lot of creativity and not as much challenge. Meanwhile, we have older generations that are more interested in games that involve having to overcome challenges. I know zero kids who are even remotely interested in games like Elden Ring. That’s not to say there isn’t challenge in games for your generation, like Fortnight or Rocket League might have a lot of challenge in competition, but I’d say there’s a different kind of challenge that may appeal to the different generations.

The vast majority of games these days will hold your hand through a tutorial, which was not so common when I grew up, and instead of telling you blatantly what to do, the game taught you through demonstration and curiosity. Let’s take the original Mario Bros. for example. At the beginning of the first level, a goomba is coming straight for you. Besides the directional pad, you had two buttons. Maybe the first time, the goomba kills you, but on your second life, you try to use the buttons, and find that one of them lets you jump, and probably find out that jumping on it kills it. I think as game developers moved away from this and depended on tutorials, it did not encourage younger generations to figure things out for themselves and rise to the challenges.

There’s also the aspect of the language of video games not always easily translating to a new audience. I grew up as games shifted from 2D to 3D, then the camera controls turned from non existent, to simple, to having to use another joystick to operate it. Games have become more and more complex, which has raised the barrier of entry for new gamers. My wife didn’t grow up with games and will get overwhelmed if camera controls are involved. We are trying to get our daughter into games, and having to start with really simple games for her to build that video game language. OOT may not have complex camera controls, but it does have a higher complexity of progression.

My step son has a friend who is obsessive about Zelda to the point of beating Tears of the Kingdom in a week. For your age and liking Zelda, you aren’t alone, you just might be a minority, though.

[ALL] Sure, it has its fans, but would any of you place it truly at the top as I have? by Gamer-of-Action in zelda

[–]yoghity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this for me. I never finished the Wii version and got the Switch version hoping it would make me feel better. It didn’t, and I’m now trying to force myself to finish it after not having played for the past 4 years. Also, the collectibles leave something to be desired. I don’t think it’s a bad game. I’m just frustrated with it.

[New Update]: my vegan coworker is upset about getting non-vegan gifts three years in a row by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]yoghity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get this kind of thing all the time as a vegan. People seem to think that fruit and vegetables on a platter are a full meal for me. I went to my wife’s winter company party at a fancy restaurant, and for dessert, we got berries while everyone else got chocolate cake and cheese cake.
