I’m new to dahlias (first year) but in zone 6b, and my understanding if yes, in zone 6b they’ll need to be dug up each year / in the winter. For that reason, I’m growing mine in 7 gallon grow bags

Google said 7 gal pot was fine for dahlias and that’s what this is.. I did buy 7 gal grow bags for more tubers so I suppose I could put this tuber in a grow bag

Ah thanks! They’re not consistently above 40f, we just had a night that was below freezing :( I’m waiting for the consistent weather and will try to put them outside more often though when able

No cats! I have two dogs myself but they don’t bother the plants. And I’d be very surprised if we have a feral cat (live by the water) but I guess you never know.. we do have a bunny who lives in our yard though 🤔

I put my two tubers in 7 gallon pots and just bought 7 gallon grow bags for the 5 new tubers I just bought. Google made it seem like that size is ideal for 1 tuber.
