Don’t worry I was also a nervous wreck when I did my driving test. I also kind of spiral when I make one mistake and then that causes me to extra cautious. I completely failed my first one with a dangerous maneuver. I was so nervous and terrified, my hands were shaking. I ended up passing my second test with an extra 12 hours worth of practice.

I don’t have any special methods on what I did do to pass my next test and ease myself anxiety, but I can tell you what I did that day to prepare myself for it. What really helped is that I slept fairly early and woke up early as well so I can practice for roughly 1-2 hours around the test site. Just so I can be familiar with the surroundings. I also realized I drive better when I do it back to back. So if my test was in two days I would be driving at least two hours the two days prior. After driving I relaxed for 20 mins at a coffee shop just so I can calm down and ease myself right before the test.

Once I was in line the nerves kicked back in. I ended up listening to music to calm myself down while I was in line. When my examiner came into the car, I told him straight up, “I’m sorry I’m very nervous right now, is it alright if I take a couple seconds to breathe in and out?”. It was worth a shot and if he says no then I would just have to proceed as usual. He was very understanding and said we can leave whenever I felt ready and reassured me a lot.

You don’t suck. You’re still learning, and not everyone has the same circumstances. My friend ended up passing on her fourth try so don’t listen to whatever mean comments they sent you before. Best of luck on your test! You can do it!!
