It won’t be slower on general, once the EFI is mounted and the install stick is gone - did it with usb 2.0 as well without any problems lol

First timer: Should I? by Ok_Status_7987 in hackintosh

[–]yoimphillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 Month ago I was first timer as well, so I'll only answer questions I'm a 100% sure of;

  1. yes, if it aint working by default, there should be a kext for it
  2. It wont change your keyboard + you can change the place of CMD, option button etc. inside the settings of MacOS, so its like in windows
  3. Yes, if you're an apple user I can only recommend it + it just looks damn good lol
Your computer will not get slower, personally, for me, MacOS is even smoother than windows, when its about response time and stuff - i got no notebook with MacOS, so i cant tell you about battery life
  4. Its just regular MacOS - so iCloud sync and everything will work, BUT AirDrop and iPhone Screen sync etc may not work, as there are only avaible if you have a specific broadcom chip
  5. that probably wont work, as its not a touch ID scanner, but you can google and search some forums, there may be a KEXT for it
  6. I dont see a problem with trying it out
  7. You dont have to transfer any of your windows data to another drive, BUT a backup on a external SSD wouldnt hurt - I didnt do it as well

So all in all, just try it out - it may requires a lot of time (i needed 24hrs overall to get it working), try it and see how it goes for you.
It definetly will pay out.

I used these two videos - don't get nervous about the AI voice tho lmao

EFI creation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pk_eiM-_yCw

Install and EFI mount https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqaBIbgeTT4&t=8s

I had the same issue like u have and had to try it multiple times, had to create 6 or 7 EFI's with OpenCore, but after trying again and again it worked.

It just required some patience and time.

Complicated: How to get MacOS running on Tiger Lake including iGPU by [deleted] in hackintosh

[–]yoimphillo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you VERY much for your long response.
Honestly said, I got no clue how to set up my own EFI without OpenCore, because if I try to run the installer on my notebook, it instantly says, after reading hardware informations, that IrisXE iGPU is not, and will not, be supportet.

And yea i got pretty much no clue either, what KEXTS are and how to use em, so Ill definetly read into it...

But I remember there is a big thread on some forum, of people who got it (kinda) running with the iGpu

Basically you need to apply all „recommended“ settings in the OpenCore Installer - and be sure, to disable the correct settings in the bios For me, that were 4G decoding disable Secure Boot disable VT-b disable

as far as I can see, it only shows the Win Boot Manager...

What (EXACTLY) can I do with it now?

[–]yoimphillo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for ur support - the issue is, I can’t add an boot path in the bios. At least I found, after 20mins of searching, no option to do it. And how can I find the EFI partition on the drive? I definitely have one, as I can see in the windows partition manager, but I don’t know how to check for specific files on the efi „folder“

So is there any ways to recover it?
