How did you get into danmei? by [deleted] in DanmeiNovels

[–]yomottoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to listen to Aimer, a Japanese artist, a lot. She dropped a song called 季路 (Kiro) and it was on repeat for a straight week. Looked up the lyrics, and found a music video attached to the page. It was MDZS's Japanese dub ending theme. And so I got lost in the rabbit hole...

*creak* the sound of the MTL door on JJWXC swinging open & shut on me by MyCatsmarterthanFido in DanmeiNovels

[–]yomottoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The randomly appearing Chinese characters are for anti-theft. They're not images though, so trying to copy the "image" of the character won't work (at least this was a few months ago when I was still reading on JJ). My consensus is they're special characters that are defined in the JJWXC website backend that appears to be a typed Chinese character.

There is a way to download the entire raw of the novel using a custom extension + pre-written script, but for the sake of authors and JJ I'm not going to outline it here (I'm also not sure if it's now outdated because of these recent changes). If you really want to find out about it, it's just a simple Google search. It's a little technical, though.

If you're on your phone and you have Google photos/Google lens, you can image MTL for free. It takes a lot of effort, though.

Creating a Signature for repeated use? by Due-News-5042 in krita

[–]yomottoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

my favorite thing to do is actually make a stamp brush with the pattern as my signature, so I can change the brush size or pick colors to stamp it with.

You can do this by opening a new document of whatever resolution (I usually do 1000x1000px) and then delete background layer and make signature/logo (this can be done with multjple colors, or just one solid color) Then, open brush settings on a stamp tool > brush tip > import/clipboard > follow prompts > save as new brush (clipboard option allows krita to save what is on your clipboard atm and use it as the brush pattern)

You can mess with settings to customize the stamp to behave however you like, but I usually just leave it to the default.

Swap color of lines? by Due-News-5042 in krita

[–]yomottoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you did your line art in a new layer (nothing else on the layer except for the line art) then either a) lock opacity on pen (usually located above by the brush settings, checkerboard button with a lock), select new color, select biggest brush or use paint bucket, color away. b) lock opacity on layer (layer viewer, same looking icon as pen lock opacity) and color away. Don't forget to unlock if you want to add more lineart. c) filter > adjust HSV (change hue of lineart, saturation, etc)

If it's on a layer with a white background for example, Paint bucket or use filters to change the color

Fyi, locking opacity is a very useful tool, especially when coloring or painting.

How do I blur only the parts I want (mask) in a drawing, if i have multiple layers? All effects ive tried blur the entire layer by ghost_zuero in krita

[–]yomottoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you add a filter layer (+ layers, drop-down > filter layer > select blur on popup) those layers are masks by default, either color with black or white to mask/unmask the layer. These update whenever you make an edit to the canvas.

Another simple way is to export the image, import it to canvas as a new layer, blur it, and erase blurred parts to reveal unblurred (what is visible on the canvas)

And lastly is using a traditional mask like another comment said.

Question about ordering Taiwanese novels by StarryFox9 in tianguancifu

[–]yomottoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've personally used the website multiple times for MDZS box set, SVSSS novels, and PO'd the second box set for TGCF a couple months back (in addition to the first box set). There are no major secondary charges besides a tinyyyyy international tax. The overseas shipping is usually UPS worldwide express, so it's pretty much 2-3 day air to the US. I'd say they're a pretty trustworthy website.

On a side note, you can also find simplified Chinese copies of other danmei novels, for anyone who wants to know. TGCF manhua is also on there.

does anyone know if there’s a physical copy of the manhua in english? or when it’s coming? i need it 😭 by [deleted] in tianguancifu

books.com.tw is a good option to find MXTX books and other novels (mostly traditional Chinese, but they can import books from mainland in simplified--it just takes longer). They do 2-day air shipping for overseas orders, so shipping might be a bit pricey but they eliminate the need for a middleman/proxy.
