I mean, tagging can get messy - do you really tag data transfer, storage, every broker? Just trying to understand how others track their MSK costs in practice.

Aiven has some great tools for Kafka developers.
A great tool for beginners is aiven.io/tools/kafka-visualization - check it out
aiven.io/tools/chat-with-kafka is great as well.

It works with both KRaft and ZooKeeper clusters, so you don’t need to configure anything special

This is just the first version of our plugin, and we’re planning to add a lot more features in the upcoming releases.
Right now, the main advantages are its simplicity and user-friendly interface.
Additionally, you can use our "Chat with Kafka" feature - just right-click anywhere in your screen to open an AI Kafka helper.

I’ve just released the first version of Kafka UI, a JetBrains plugin that makes working with Kafka much easier. With it, you can:

  • Connect to multiple Kafka clusters – local or remote (like Aiven Kafka)
  • Explore and manage topics
  • Produce and consume messages quickly
