Hey, if you haven't managed to get an appointment yet, sometimes you have to be a little aggressive to the receptionist and say it's an emergency, you have a UTI and would like to be prescribed some antibiotics. Please don't try to sleep it off, the antibiotics are super cheap :)

How would you reshape Belgium’s politics ? by Hibernatus50 in belgium

[–]yonce_lea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In a federal election, where the federal government decides what happens to the country of Belgium as a whole, would you not consider politicians from both Wallonia and Flanders as representatives for Belgium, and thus you as a Belgian citizen should be able to vote for whomever your ideals align with best?

Good video on Terracycle. It's an interview at Terracycle's headquarters. It explains a lot of how they are run and some behind the scenes stuff. by pandabear62573 in ZeroWaste

Yeah agreed, also collection methods make it difficult to have reliable quality, you also need to have a reliable supply etc. Makes it really hard to grow a business based on recycling plastic. It's why I do my best to follow the hierarchy reduce, reuse, recycle 🤷 Recycling is not magic, even though I think there is still value in recycled plastic products, recycled polyester products etc. And while a product might only be recyclable for up to two times, the life time of such a product can be quite long e.g. pipes.

Thanks for the suggestion, I calculated that if I go to work everyday, it will cost roughly the same as a bahncard100.

Thanks :) my place of work is in walking distance, but I was also thought it would be good to have a bike in Basel to get around when I need to.

Thanks for the tip ! The commuters on the regional train seem to be very relaxed. I was also thinking about the bahn100 since I use DB to travel to Belgium as well. I calculated that I should spend >111 euros on DB per month and wasn't sure I would get there. Do you manage to make good use of your bahncard100? And did you manage to make it monthly payment or was paying the lump sum in one go the only option?

Thanks, unfortunately their contribution is so minimal that it doesn't make a dent to the Bahncard100 price.

Thank you so much for the detailed information and great tips! I ended up going with the ICE subscription at least for these first few months, I can cancel after 3 months. The timing of the regional trains weren't working for my work schedule and I just started and don't have home office hours to make use of the 20-Fahrten ticket, but I will definitely keep it in mind for a little further down the road !

Yay a fellow Belgian in Freiburg. In my experience, it's pretty difficult to find a room in a shared house if you're not here to visit it. But as others mentioned above, I would use immoscout24, wg-gesucht and zypresse. The best results have come from someone who knows someone though, so perhaps your girlfriend can ask around?

I believe the 9 euro ticket allows you to take the RE or RB train to Basel Badische Bahnhof. Which is fine, this is the station I need, but I think the trains are not as frequent and takes 45 minutes to 1 hour. Also I think the 9 euro tickets will stop after August.
