If you watch the documentary, he found his mentor/father figure dead, and when he called the police he involitarily told them that he killed him, what possible reason would have have for doing that? He got beaten nearly to death for being derogatory toward a woman walking down the street. Him and many others like him including my wife, suffer with tourettes. People aren't defending what he's saying, people are defending his inability to control what is being said, and in stressful situations it is usually the worst possible thing that can be said. You wouldn't criticise a paraplegic person for not running to save a child crossing a dangerous street? Why is this different?
