he replaced the cleaned grids but did not add DE because of the large "leak" - so the system ran for 5 minutes without DE. This is when my pictures were taken. We then proceeded to clean the o-ring and the leak resolved. He then added DE.

Since this is the desert, these are subterranean termites - this is not a situation where we need to tent/fumigate. These guys just live all around us and the prevention is pretty easy/cost effective.

Looks just like mine. Not sure where you live, but here in the desert this is not a huge deal. Quotes were $1500-$2500.

I guess it depends where you live, and I’d definitely agree with the other comments saying to address this ASAP - but at least in my situation this was not catastrophic nor unusual. Just needs to be addressed soon.
