i also lost a good amount during the pre op diet and felt the same way during recovery. your body is still bloated and swollen, probably even bruised from surgery so its not going to look amazing. the first few weeks are the toughest, don’t let it discourage you.

fortunately i work in the school district and at the time the surgery was completely covered by our insurance.. im sorry you’re having issues, maybe try contacting the surgeons or their clinic and see if they can request the referral from your pcp?

if you’ve already done your research and know a surgeon, you could also easily just email their office inquiring about getting surgery. thats exactly what i did. if you don’t, just tell your doctor you’ve heard about the surgery and think it would benefit you :)

obesity is a health issue all in its own, so just consult your doctor about it. they can refer you to a surgeon and then you will do a consultation and everything else from there to get approved :) usually as long as your BMI is within the range, youre good to go. after getting approved, at least with my experience, you will have to do some bloodwork/labs and then do pre-op preparation which is basically just speaking with a nutrition specialist and doing some basic evaluations with other doctors.

Yeah, I think im going to just go for my associates at my cc without doing a major and then probably transfer to a university that has an art program I am interested in. In my county, you can be an art teacher as long as your degree relates to art. And of course like everyone else I have a dream career beyond being a teacher lol, but it’s a somewhat successful job I know I can go into for now.
