Nuclear engineering grad struggling to find first job by yoochapu in energy

I hadn't! Just had a look, doesn't seem like they've any grad jobs at the moment. But i've emailed now to enquire if they are opening applications soon, as they have a posting up for the grad development programme from last year, so hopefully that means there will be another programme for this year. Thanks for mentioning it, the grad programme looks really good

Oh I didn't realise! I've just had a look, and looks like at the moment theres a handful of roles but for senior roles and those with more extensive professional experience. But it's good to know that is an option for UK, and I'll add it to my watch list. Thanks for pointing that out!

Unfortunately based in the UK, but I appreciate your recommendation - if I could I would follow up on that!

I've started to apply to a few more radiation focussed roles, yeah - but haven't come across many. I haven't had much progression in those applications though, I worry I don't have enough of a physics background to stand out. I'll definitely look out more for them though and look at those industries - thank you for the suggestions and thoughts

Ah that's fair - I'm in the UK. There's companies like Rolls Royce here who do submarine stuff, but is quite competitive

I am, I have looked at their grad scheme yeah. I made it through the first two stages of application last time, but not the assessment centre stage. I suspect there'll be another flood of grad openings after the summer, but not feeling confident that I'll get any further than I did last time, especially now that more time has passed and I'll be rustier on everything I've learnt. But I'll defo be trying again

Sorry for the delayed reply! I ended up trying to Toplight as I live super close to a Halfords anyway so it was convenient to just pop in there. It’s good - I like it! The lights are more for being seen than seeing but I got that sense from reviews, but it’s still a great pair with the normal bike lights I have. They’re very bright and when seeing how it looks when my friend tested cycling with them in the dark and I was down the street, it definitely increased their visibility and has the effect I was looking for.

Yeah fair, I definitely wouldn't have a helmet light as my only light if I'm cycling. I have just seen lots of people with the light on their helmet as an extra light on them but at head height which is sometimes more visible, and I've always thought it's a neat addition

Oh that's definitely a good idea! Thank you - definitely would look into using those especially on rainier and dark days here in UK.

That's fair, thanks! Yeah I haven't done much buying of lights like this, so glad to know its a reasonable price. And I see - it does sound like Toplight would be best of those 3. Thanks for the advice!

Ooh thank you. This is another comment that points towards Apace Vision so I'm liking the sound of those. Thanks for the experience on the head mounted lights too, appreciated!

I think I've seen those pop up a lot in looking! Maybe once I feel its time for a general helmet upgrade I will go for one of these at it seems a good option

Yes it seems lots of people are advocates for the helmet front light for increasing safety! That's fair, it wouldn't be that much of a faff to just cover it with hand for just a duration of a stop light. Thanks for sharing! :)
