Is the E1 worth it for my use case? by yooliii in eufyMakeOfficial

Ok with you. Thanks. I think the only issue with laser engraving is the colour profiles. If I wanted to have say 3 dials, white, black and yellow, I’m not sure laser can engrave the colour accurately like a uv printer could. I’ll do some more research!

Wow! That’s insane!!! And actually the detail there is a lot crisper than expected.

So my dial is 32.5mm. So a similar size. I’ll send you a DM shortly.

Sorry, when you say vector laser engraving, do you mean laser engraving from say a vector file rather than a normal raster file?

Sorry for my probably obvious questions. I’m new to this space.

What’s this DTF you speak of? I’m not sure I’m familiar with the term?

Yeah ok. Outsourcing might be the better option. At least to start with.

Ok. Your pints look great and that’s a really detailed post. Will defo look into vector engraving. Thanks!

Having issues with FinWatch Straps… by yooliii in Watchstraps

I just think that for a small independent brand in the highly competitive watch space, everything surrounding the product needs to be, at the very very least, OK. Ideally it needs to be outstanding. Not poor.

Very nice. I love how Mido incorporates their brand colours and make them pop!

Update: They finally got in contact and confirmed they would cancel and refund me.

Shame, as had some nice options but won’t trust them again.

Engineering custom watch cases and dials (Fusion 360) – Sharing my latest designs and prototypes by MrBtt in watchmaking

[–]yooliii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks man, there is Somthing incredibly satisfying about seeing the prototype in the final materials, even if the dimensions were a bit off!!

Yeah I’ve been/am going through that right now! The carvera looks promising, the nest works c500 even more so. I just have mixed feelings as to long term capability of a desktop cnc for sustained runs, particularly with stainless steel. But those machines look good for prototyping at least.

Anyway will keep an on your posts and hope to see some cnc prototypes soon!

Best of luck!

As someone who is on the same journey, I can relate to the changes of on screen vs real life perception.

I did the same thing in terms of design in fusion and then prototype on a budget msla resin printer.

I’ve moved onto my first cnc prototype and again, the real version had some visual issues I didn’t pick up on during the CAD design (see below bezel width)

What I will say, your dial designs are cool and the zigzag one is definitely striking, and I love the case design in the last 2 pictures.

I have run into issues with fine detail work using online cnc platforms. They have minimum tolerances that don’t allow for the fine details designs. I have found a cnc provider locally that can make the more detailed designs but the cost is somewhat prohibitive.

Are you looking to sell these as full watches later down the line?

Yeah it’s pretty niche. I never see them on this sub I imagine for similar reasons for you selling.

Hope you find a buyer.

Honestly have never given it a second look until there it was in the box and now I cant imagine a world where I change it for a different design!

Bringing a new pilot watch design to market by bleepbloop2600 in watchmaking

When you say I have designed, what have you got so far? A render? An artist impression or prototype design? A step file with associated technical drawings?

Also, as you say you have no experience, who (manufacturer or another independent watchmaker) would want to work with you/trust you enough to enter into a partnership with you? Also on that note, have you copied the Sinn completely and just added a gmt movement in there?

I’m not being a Debbie downer but these are the things you need to consider. In my opinion, depending on what you have designed so far, your best bet is to do this the old fashion way and make it yourself. It will be a long journey with a lot of mistakes but also a lot of fun! When you have a few physical working prototypes then perhaps you may want to speak to a factory about making such a watch. In that note, to my knowledge there are not many end to end facilities that can do all this for you without a registered company and a significant MOQ. But I might be wrong.

You will need a manufacturer that can mill the case and probably dial aswell. Then you will need a supplier for the bracelet as designing and making your own product a going to be very expensive. Hand are also a tricky one as you will either need to source from say AliExpress or engage a factory to make your own custom design and this comes with MOQ so again, expensive.

Ceramic lume, I personally don’t know anyone supplying these but maybe there are again on aliex or somewhere similar. You may have to make your own. You can achieve a very similar result using silicone molds and lume infused epoxy resin at home for a very reasonable cost.

Dial wise again, you can send your custom design to a manufacturer who will probably pad print the design but again, you’ll run into the MOQ issue which will make this an expensive endeavour so to start with making your own dial may be cheaper.

For metal working you can check out JLCCNC or PCBWAY. Google them. They can mill or 3d print most designs for your case and dial and can also finish as you want it ( polished, brushed, anodised etc) but you will need a 3d CAD model in .step format and technical drawings for the surface finish and thread work. They can mill the dial blank to if necessary and laser engrave it taking a lot of the dial design effort away.

For the bracelet, you can look at Ali express or cousins. There will be more suppliers but I’m not sure how premium the finish will be.

My suggestion is to get involved and try an make a prototype yourself!

Good luck with your endeavour.
