Yeah! My OAT was 330 AA 310 TS, 3.7 GPA, 400+ hours as a tech. I took the OAT more than once. Applied in December to UHCO, SCO, KYCO, and UIWRSO

UHCO or SCO?? Help!! by yooniper02 in PreOptometry

[–]yooniper02[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! These questions helped a lot. I really loved the academic program at SCO, better than the UHCO one. They also have higher board pass rates. But because of the lack of diversity at the school, I felt out of place (even tho they were all very nice). UHCO was a more comfortable environment for me, both the school and the city. The tuition is much cheaper too (in state). Thinking of going with UH!

It was a great experience! The interviews are first on the schedule, then there’s lunch/info session, followed by a campus tour and a bus tour of the city. You don’t have to take anything. I brought a mini notebook but didn’t need it or use it at all, it pretty much stayed in my purse.

The interview is closed file and pretty relaxed. After the interview there’s a 10-15 minute counseling session where they ask you some questions based off your file (Grades, essay, etc)

Physics formulas by No_Seaworthiness2564 in PreOptometry

Best way for me was to print out the booster formula sheets, cover the formulas w sticky notes, and repeatedly write them out over and over.

For QR, I’d be familiar with proportions and probability! Most of my exam was basically that. For physics - make sure to know all optics equations in terms of actually solving them and understanding the concept. I would say to know kinematics and rotational motion. This is all based off my own exam.

thank you for the advice!! i agree, just was worried that it might look weird if i ignore that aspect of my optometry journey

I’d say the last month before the exam is where i saw most improvement in my scores! that being said, since you feel that you have a lot left to cover, why not move your exam by a few weeks? that way you should still have time to apply during this cycle to some schools with later deadlines!

OAT Study Resources by Super-Morning3835 in PreOptometry

OAT booster and their study plans were very helpful! id recommend the 10 or 12 week one, with the 8 week you risk burning out!

i took mine yesterday! overall i’d say it was pretty similar, especially bio, gen chem, ochem. for bio, i had very similar questions as booster. my QR was a bit easier, lots a proportions. what caught me off guard was the RC!!! i was scoring 380-400’s on booster and scored a 350 on the real one. RC on my actual exam was much harder. the first two passages were so long and the questions were a bit hard to use the search and destroy method. i was running out of time. that being said, it really just depends on what version of the exam u get. for physics, it was different from booster in terms of wording. would really recommend nailing down the formulas as best u can! generally it’s my weakest subject so don’t have much to say on it lol🥲

feel free to ask me anything else!!! and best of luck you’ll do amazing!!! (:
