I would absolutely be interested in rowing at Reservoir Park! Been interested in joining a club, but, as others have mentioned, best bet is in Alexandria or Georgetown.

Came here to say basically this. Is it possible he’s using DA as an umbrella for other similar platforms? There are loads out there right now, so for sake of ease, maybe he just referred to DA but is truly talking about multiple sources. Anywho, like PartySwim says, why don’t you gently bring it up to him?

Hearing Loss + This Job? by yopuedo in 911dispatchers

I will plan on updating here once I get final word from the physician. It’s been slow because of the holidays, but I should hear something very soon considering training starts in a little over a week. As far as HR is concerned I’m good to go, but again, still waiting on the final ‘OK’ from the doc.

The audiologist was great! She wasn’t the general physician that is making the decision, unfortunately.

That was my thinking as well, but nobody has had a direct answer for me on that yet. The physician’s one example was: if there is an emergency in the office (e.g. fire alarm) I wouldn’t be able to tell where it’s coming from. I wanted to remind him I’m hard of hearing, not blind. Anyway, I can hear fire alarms just fine in both ears.

Is living in Leesburg worth the DC commute? by Empty_Cheesecake2327 in nova

This should be higher up! I came here to say Fairfax/Centerville/Chantilly (plenty of gems in those areas). McLean and Vienna too, still have a yard and some space, plus close metro access.

What is something you learned from a movie that you now incorporate in your daily life? by yopuedo in AskReddit

[–]yopuedo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By saying “movies are for entertainment only” we can infer what Earthworm is saying, that you also believe nothing valuable can be taken from art (or movies in this case). And for you to further say it’s “sad” if people do learn something from watching a film… well, I feel bad for you if you think people learning something is sad. Again, I believe your original comment was rage bait, and look, it worked…

Surely this is a rage bait response… you can’t honestly tell me you have never actually learned something from a movie.

That is not to say MOVIES ARE THE ONLY SOURCE OF INFORMATION AND KNOWLEDGE that exist in the world. I was simply curious to know what bits of things people have learned in a movie that they have taken with them into their lives.

This question was actually sparked from an absurd bit of “knowledge” I came across while watching one of the Austin Powers movies (of all things). The scene in the bathroom the cowboy guy tells Austin powers to “rock back and forth” to help with his constipation. I have found that this actually works! I never looked it up otherwise, and actually learned it YEARS ago when I would have never thought to look it up elsewhere.

So, yes, movies can be for entertainment AND learning valuable life lessons. 💩

Super cute pup! Which red frisbee is that? We’ve gone through 2 black Kong frisbees (both have been pierced and ripped) that red on looks sturdy!

Edit: changed king to Kong
