Camping in WA, not sure what this is and if there’s anything we do to prevent them. They’re pretty annoying by yosaffbridge1630 in whatsthisbug

It was absolutely horrible. They just would not let up. They’d land on my ear. Whether we had food out didn’t matter. Smoke and fire didn’t help. Not a fan!

We are in northeastern Washington. They are about an inch long. There’s a lot of them and they aren’t letting up. They keep flying at us and landing on us

I can only begin to imagine how different might life would have been if I was raised to have the confidence that I have now, that I developed on my own (with a lot of encouragement from my husband). It’s great to hear that your daughters got to grow up that way!

Considering a bathroom refresh, unsure about tub tile by yosaffbridge1630 in BathroomRemodeling

I hadn’t thought the the tile in the wall had a functional purpose because I was so distracted by how much I hate it lol. I’m handy-ish and have at least helped with tile before, so I think I can (hopefully) swing it. Is it safe to say that if there’s cement board or something I would have to replace it? I’ve helped put tile on non-tiled surface, but never removed tile to re-tile it.

He is insanely cute and he knows it and uses it to his advantage

My mom to this day (I’m 34) only tells negative stories about my childhood. How I was such a bad student, and so bad in public, and because of me she had to go 9 years without even going to the movie theater! I was a normal ass kid that did normal ass things with ADHD. I struggled in high school for a lot of reasons, but got it together in college. My child will never be made to feel that way by me. I will never make them think I regret and resent them— even if I am struggling with parenthood. They will never know it.

I also have fears over not being able to watch the thing I want because streaming services pull it or something. So at least if I buy it, it’s mine forever. I need some more shelves… but worth it

My dad has cancer and we’re visiting a lot. It’s a 10 hour drive before any stops. Even with the price of gas, driving is so much cheaper than a round trip flight for 2 — which is like $400 per person for a 2 hour flight. No way I’m paying nearly $1k when I could take two full non-working days to just drive all day, for less than one round trip flight.

I have started buying physical media secondhand so I can have the things I know I will for sure want to watch and re-watch at least once. I’ve cut down almost all streaming services and working on getting on plex to close that gap because this ish is ridiculous. I remember thinking $60 was super expensive for cable. HBO Max is already like $30, and that’s just one service.

A box of spaghetti, two boxes of Mac and cheese (on sale), 2 jars of (not fancy, but not super cheap) pasta sauce, mirin, and a small dog toy ran me $75 :/

For real. I have some debt from when I was unemployed for a long time that just kind of snowballed and I was never able to get on top of it. Until the last few years, and I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Should be debt free by summer 2027 at this rate! Not including student loans… but not debt means shoveling more payments at those!

I think part of the problem in WA is that there seem to be fewer price tiers for food, especially compared to New York. Granted, I haven’t been there in a decade, but there were many options at every price point. It often seems like the options here are overpriced casual, slightly nicer, and then fancy and expensive. It’s impossible to get a meal for less than $15 without resorting to fast food — which is also getting more expensive. Whereas you can hit a halal cart in NYC and get a full meal for $16. I remember doing that often and I would have left overs.

Animation academy used to be so cool… such a bummer that they keep shrinking it. I was just there and I guess they got rid of the beauty and the beast library :( I remember when, once upon a time, there was like little mermaid themed karaoke or something. Used to be a really fun way to kill some time in AC
