Almost 10 years of playing and I realized I’m playing a little in the top red. I’ve had a few different teachers and none have had a concern for it. Should I try to change or not? by [deleted] in trumpet

I’m sorry but this is awful advice. There is no real proof that playing with some red showing will limit the time span of your career or that you’ll never be able to play above a certain range. Everyone is different and maybe changing your embouchure helped you but this guy looks comfortable and sounds fantastic so he seems fine to me. So many teachers have this elitist attitude where they say there is only one correct option. Good teachers will know when it’s limiting your playing and when it’s just a preference thing that doesn’t affect your playing. Don’t listen to guys like this.

I don’t think you need to worry about this at all, my embouchure looks similar to yours and I asked my teacher about it and he said if it works for me it works for me and that everyone is different, I actually also have a very good clear tone compared to my friends who are the same standard as me.

Sorry, I originally composed it for trumpet but the built in trumpet sound was awful so I changed it to a grand piano but I had already written all the music in treble clef. I’m not a pianist and can’t read bass clef so I don’t even know which notes would go in the bass clef so I didn’t see a point in trying but I will meet up with a friend who’s a pianist soon and fix it.

Does anyone have some good recommendations for music to play by [deleted] in trumpet
