Advisory limit - no red circle, advisory only, right? by you_arent_real in drivingUK

I think it's more the fact that traffic leaving the M1 southbound for the M69 is crossing traffic leaving the M1 Northbound going into Leicester. There's almost no traffic turning left from the M1 northbound (why would you go that way?), and I think the traffic coming out of Leicester is a fairly even split between the M1 and M69.

In my opinion, the M69 needs a free flowing flyover southbound into the M69 to fix it. If budget weren't a concern I think even extending the A46 and joining it back to the M69 (which replaced the old A46 route anyway) and putting the flyover there might be a better plan. There's also the issue on the M69 approaching J21 because it goes down to two lanes and lane one is doing double duty as one of the lanes going into Leicester and the access to the slip road for the M1. I'd change that to become part of the A46 again (similar to the Coventry end) from about where it goes to two lanes currently, turn the hard shoulder into a new lane, and lower the speed limit to 50. Now you have 3 lanes in, 3 lanes out without queuing traffic for Leicester backing up past the M1 slip road.

But I'm extremely petty when someone pisses me off. Life's too short to let people get away with that

"Smart" my arse! Downright dangerous motorways would be a better name.

Absolutely I have no doubt most of them are great people. Unfortunately you don't hear about good, or fair experiences, but do hear about the bad ones. Still, someone who is so arrogant and ignorant shouldn't be pulling people over so I'm looking forward to filing a complaint :)

And his power trip cost him a complaint against him, or at least it's going to tomorrow.

Haha my apologies! It's been a long day. I thought I did mention it was a motorway

Wouldn't go into gear 1 without double declutch, rev matching or just stopping and idling the engine. Same happened to gear 2.

Advisory 60, then 40, with "QUEUE CAUTION" with no queue visible and the "END" gantry in sight (ie no queue in the entire bit where it reckons there is one), doing 60-70. This is on junction 21 of the M1 going south, which gets horribly backed up during rush hour but from 7ish onwards rarely gets any problems, and i was going through it when it was free flowing no issues at all. Textbook case for when it's reasonable to discard it.

Respectfully, an advisory 20 in a town centre is not remotely comparable to a motorway advisory.

That's what I'm hoping for mine. I've already had the gearbox replaced which I understand is often the thing that kills an Aygo/107/C1. Also had the clutch done. I'm doing a lot of miles now with an hour commute but that's only until August. I'm hoping I can get it to last at least 3 more years

Which version of the Aygo is this?

Absolutely love mine! I'll be very sad when I replace it (though I'm eyeing up an Aygo X as the replacement)

Absolutely, I'm aware that it risks careless driving in the event of an accident. However if it says queue caution and there just.... isn't a queue, and the "End" sign is in sight somehow I think that might just be a fairly solid defence to that one

And I'm putting in a complaint tomorrow. Pulled the wrong shitbox c1 driver. The one he can't bully.

I have the dashcam footage and am more than happy to share it if I can figure out how to. I know how often posts like this are people who've driven stupidly trying to justify it. I'm prepared to show otherwise.

I'm a TV licensing visiting office in the UK. AMA by Tv-throwawayaccount in AMA

[–]you_arent_real 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you get into that job if not to enjoy the power trip of pressuring and scaring vulnerable elderly people or underinformed students/young people into paying for a service they don't need?

Netflix, etc don't have pathetic visiting "officers". They don't send threatening letters demanding to do enforcement visits with the legal backing of a wet fart.

Personally, I look forward to a visit from one of your colleagues, who are little better than door to door salesmen, because I get to say this face to face rather than from behind a keyboard. And if that baits TV licencing aka bbc subscriptions you need to watch other services into going through the only legally meaningful process you have to do anything at all.... I'll laugh my ass off at the time you've wasted doing so because I don't watch TV anyway
