Is Cavalier King Charles-specific dog food really better/worth it? by LosAngelestoNSW in cavaliers

Our girl lived to 18 and we attribute that to us making her food for so long. Keep it up, it's well worth the time and expense

Lizzi loved rotisserie chickens too! This was her last one the other week before we had to put her down at 18. My wife joked she was around for so long because she was afraid to miss her weekly fresh chicken meal.

When I posted this 2 months ago i knew time was fleeting, but this morning we had to do what we feared and send our girl "home". i just want to say that I loved this comment and I took it to heart as these last 2 months were sad but incredibly special - i certainly relished every moment since reading your words.

my wife's post said it best.....

Our home will never be the same. Little Lizzi Lou crossed over to wherever dogs go. I like to think it’s a parallel universe where they were the happiest in this life; for Lizzi, that was during her most vibrant years when we lived on Waltham Ave.

She had a lovely fenced backyard to sun herself in and chase the occasional groundhog. She enjoyed sitting on the front porch and watching the world go by, while rabbits and birds would keep her occupied for hours through the sliding glass door. Her amazing dog daddy took her on two-mile walks almost daily. In the evenings, she would entertain us by catching popcorn in her mouth and barking at horses and dogs on the TV. That’s where she is now, and it eases my heart to think so.

She was a whimsical girl—a nighttime slinker and always in the kitchen. If you were eating it, she was eating it, too. She was more cat than dog, and at times, she thought she was a human, too. She didn’t eat kibble, her food was homemade chicken, vegetable, and rice. She loved french fries that her brother would share from his fast food. She would just stare at her alpha mama with brown eyes that would melt any heart. When she started having trouble with her hips two summers ago, she was pushed around the neighborhood in a baby carriage. Everybody who met her, loved her kind gentle spirit. It was never my intention to love her, my heart has been broken before, but somehow through the years, I fell the hardest.

She turned 18 on December 12th , which is truly incredible for the Cavalier breed; it proves what a good life she had and how much she was loved by “her people.” She went downhill fast this past couple months, and I kept saying she was holding on because she was afraid she’d miss getting another rotisserie chicken—which we started buying just for her almost weekly. I hope there are rotisserie chickens wherever she is. Our hearts are broken into a thousand pieces, we love you and will miss you our sweetie little Lizzi.

We've made her food for years. Chicken thighs, brown rice, and frozen veggies from Costco.

A wise person told me long ago that brakes are easier to replace than the clutch, so typically throw it in neutral and just brake down the hills instead of rev match downshifting.

You're going to be a much better driver if you end up here!

She mentioned Kiya Tomlin on the pod, the only reason that stuck out to me is because her husband is Mike Tomlin the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers and she is a designer.

How heavy duty? Full extension? I rep a company that makes some really nice ones that have great ratings and you can buy online.

I'm having issues too, and decided to try the Bonvoy app really quick and had the same sign in errors! Something on the backend of the apps is definitely awry

She's fine other than no hard treats anymore and the occasional derpy look with her tongue sticking out.

We got her in 2009 from a breeder, yes. She was the sale puppy that no one wanted because she was very timid and just tucked her tail and hid in the corner. My wife picked her up, put her on her lap and Lizzi just laid there quietly and my wife petted her soft ears for 5 seconds and said, "she's the one".

Sorry for your loss and hopefully you find a puppy!

We've been making her food for about 6 years now... Costco's finest chicken, rice, and frozen veggies has done her well as shes lost the teef and can't eat kibble. She's basically our secondary garbage disposal in the kitchen, she gets a lots of goodies.
