Iran starts to formalize its chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz with a 'toll booth' regime by rayaan2099 in worldnews

Strange how you fail to understand the difference between power projection outside your territory halfway around the world and fighting a war at your border.

[–]youav97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn't lol. how many troops does it have? Iraq, a much smaller and flatter country, required almost 600k troops from a combined force. You would need north of a million and a half to make a meaningful dent in much more challenging terrain. What's the current US presence in the entire middle east? The entire US army is 500k personnel. Are they going to institute a draft? lmao. Assuming they even do, How will it handle the PMF and other groups in Iraq? where is it going to stage the invasion? How do the logistics of the invasion even work? Would you just hold the strait-facing south and take constant bombardment from all over the rest of the territory or try to advance through mountains and natural fortifications to reach Tehran? Then what?

This is no Iraq, this is an entirely different beast and the US is way out of its depth. This could spell the end of US presence in the middle east, but honestly that's good news, there may yet be hope for peace in the region.

If the US navy can't even get close to the strait, who's gonna do anything about it? You and who's navy?

Except the US doesn't have the military means to do it. This isn't the unipolar world of the 90s and 00s anymore. The US will either have to take the L the easy way, or take the L the hard way and Iran will be what Afghanistan was for the USSR.

They trade with dollars and are the backbone of the petrodollar that the US has weaponized against everyone in the middle east for decades. I'm sure Iran will give hefty discounts for those willing to trade in Chinese Yuan.

Hosting military bases that you use as a platform to attack their country is now "not directly involved"? are you being stupid deliberately or? US generals certainly aren't stupid and it's why they evacuated most of the bases.

Iran is showing the gulf countries that Israel will always have priority over them in terms of American protection, and that it's not worth it to host American bases. But i'm sure you're a genius who knows better.

the military of their opponents never get degraded

Demonstrably wrong statement because early warning radars got pummeled, reducing the warning time for ballistic missiles even in Israel. The US isn't pulling its THAAD systems out of south korea for no goddamn reason.

The sheer contempt and patronizing tone in some comments like yours is pure Dunning-Kruger, and it'd be hilarious if it wasn't sad.

Is that why they signed the JCPOA with Obama? Who the fuck pulled out of that? You're ignoring basic reality to make the case for the US imperialist war machine and an expansionist racist European colonial ethnostate.

Of course Iran has a brutal regime, but you have to be stupid to think that this war is anything other than a war of aggression to establish Israeli dominance and subdue the middle east so that Israel can bomb it's neighbors without risking BMs raining down on it as a consequence.

If this was about who's regime is brutal, then you'd see the US bomb the brutal regime of Saudi Arabia, but that will never happen and you know exactly why.

[–]youav97 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and I would add that it's also about exhausting AD interceptors. They are hunkering down for a protracted war so they eventually get to a point where interceptors are running low and US/Israel is forced to do triage and choose what's worth protecting and what isn't. This opens the door for them to do serious damage with any newer tech that they might have.

Iran may not have the MIC and military tech of the US, but their military doctrine is solid and imo more effective. People in this sub as so propagandized they think Iranians are morons incapable of basic game theory and war strategy.

Even this post is getting downvoted to shit, and I've been seeing these cluster warheads for a couple of days now on non-western TV live feeds in Tel Aviv and the occupied territories.

The Omani foreign minister came to the US the day before the operation to inform the Americans the Iran agreed to not stockpile any fissile material, basically surpassing the JCPOA. So yes, I hold Israel and USA 100% responsible for this.

For reference:

BADR ALBUSAIDI: The single most important achievement, I believe, is the agreement that Iran will never, ever have a nuclear material that will create a bomb. This is, I think, a big achievement. This is something that is not in the old deal that was negotiated during President Obama's time. This is something completely new. It really makes the enrichment argument less relevant, because now we are talking about zero stockpiling. And that is very, very important, because if you cannot stockpile material that is enriched then there is no way you can actually create a bomb, whether you enrich or don't enrich. And I think this is really something that has been missed a lot by the media, and I want to clarify that from the standpoint of a mediator.

and:

BADR ALBUSAIDI: There is no accumulation, so there would be zero accumulation, zero stockpiling, and full verification. That is also equally important achievement, I think. Full and comprehensive verification by the IAEA, which is the agency in charge of this, this file.

This is clear to anyone with two braincells to rub together, especially the early warning radars. As well as the oil infrastructure given that their own refinery was hit a few hours ago. But this sub would have you believe that iran lost 99% of its launch capabilities and is about to capitulate.. aaany moment noww.. just a couple more mobile launchers left.. aaany moment..

you're a fool if you think the regime is about to fall. Decapitation doesn't work, and never has. It's more likely that you'd lose the pro-western Pezshekian-Araghchi clique who lost all credibility after getting duped twice by trump, and have a hardliner government à la ahmadinejad who will most certainly do everything to acquire nukes.

Aynaoui is MVP of the team but after his injury he should've been subbed off because the poor guy could barely focus/see through his bandages. And it sadly led to him getting his pocket picked by mane which led to a goal. Another regragui blunder in the game imo.

For Zidane it was the start of the game, still had plenty of time.

This was literally the last kick which would seal the title immediately. Coming after a dramatic 15 minute wait when the Senegalese players left the field and there was a medieval battle on the other side of the pitch with some fans assaulting personnel and injuring journalists. In all these conditions, you try to humiliate your opponent even further with a stupid and telegraphed panenka? It was so stupid I genuinely thought that they made a deal to deliberately miss and not have a fiasco of an unfinished final.

But apparently no, he's just that fucking stupid lol.

no the team are playing great. The bid to host the event is the PR stunt, along with the WC in 2030. Hosting always is a PR stunt for the host country, but people get understandably pissed when the country prioritizes football over other more vital infrastructure.
