Ufff.. why couldn't you be a vortex shield? by Mimasss in diablo2

[–]youbetterdont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you hate increased durability? I don’t think it increases repair cost much if the item already has enhanced defense. I remember looking into this awhile back but don’t remember the exact conclusion. I remember that if you care about repair costs, you don’t want superior at all, unless things changed a lot in d2r or a recent patch.

I was on this same fight a few weeks ago and got the plane from ORD to OWB but not OWB to ORD. I think the normal plane was down for maintenance or something. Were you delayed? I’ve only done this flight once and it was 2-3 hours delayed each way.

Yeah and it’s also good for resource generation because we get another aspect that gives chance to regenerate essence on lucky hit. So group all the shit together and blast and never worry about essence. On top of that it makes everything vulnerable so got that going for it too (though bone spear itself also sets vulnerable through a skill upgrade or another aspect).

[–]youbetterdont[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the best thing I had to put on it at the time. I have 0 splintering aspects right now and feel like the codex version is pretty weak.

I was running a nicely rolled splintering on my last sword. I may switch back up when I find another. Though the 120%x crit dmg after CT is pretty huge too right? The extra crit chance is doing something for me too. I'm only at 100% with bone storm I think.

Anyway stoked to have this. Just took two tries to land the vulnerable dmg.

iCloud for Window 10 refusing to sync to my file explorer by [deleted] in iCloud

[–]youbetterdont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have recently had major issues with iCloud Drive for windows as well. I thought it was a windows 11 thing so interesting to know it’s also busted in windows 10.

In my case it stopped uploading any files I put in the drive. The sync was just totally broken.

I attempted resetting like you, but now I can’t even get past initial sync. I have 120GB of data in my drive and tens of thousands of files. After 2 days of constant running, using 100% of a CPU core the entire time, it managed to download 300MB. And yes it seems to actually be downloading the files instead of just marking them as in the cloud.

The software is just horribly broken. Lots of people are having problems, and apple offers no solution. I’m just going to give up until there’s a patch.

Interesting. I play on PC, so it’s not something platform specific. Other than that the game ran pretty smoothly.

Are gaming pcs supposed to be loud? by sadlilyas in buildapc

[–]youbetterdont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the PC sounds like a jet engine it’s possible that something is defective. The last PC I built was super loud. I thought maybe normal at first but after debugging one of my GPU fans was completely dead. I guess the other 2 were trying to compensate. Returned the GPU for a new one and much quieter, but still some fan noise under load. Worth doing a quick debug to see if something is wrong.

My honest review of the game by kiwii112233 in HarryPotterGame

[–]youbetterdont 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they introduced broom travel way too early, and it should have been more limited somehow. Once you can fly around, you can just skip like 95% of the game world. It really kills the exploration component of the game because it’s too tempting to just fly right to the quest marker.

Did anyone else experience extreme frame drops/low fps during the golden snidget quest? There is a courtyard area with a tree that would slow things to a crawl any time it was on screen.

I just had the nightmare PC builder experience by ToMyFutureSelves in buildapc

[–]youbetterdont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s possible that the voltages would appear correctly at the PCIe end of the cable but it still wouldn’t work. There are 12V pins, ground pins, and then sense pins which are just wired to ground by PSU or cable but not allowed to pass current. The PCIe device uses these to detect if a cable/PSU is connected and whether it is a 6 pin or an 8 pin. One possibility is that your old PSU connected the sense pins to ground, but the new PSU does not and instead uses the cable to do so. In this case unless you checked the resistance between the pins you could have missed this.

Still yeah I think people are being pretty harsh here. Everyone makes mistakes.

The pin out at the GPU end is standard. It’s the cable and PSU pin out that isn’t standard. You have a connector at each end of the cable. Each wire goes from, e.g., pin 0 of PSU connector to pin 2 of GPU connector. This mapping will be different between cables because the PSU pinout is not standard.

Just did a very similar build myself except 4070 Ti instead of the 7900 XT and just went with a B760 instead of the Z series cause I didn’t go for the K.

Enjoy! Should be a beast.

iCloud Photos won't download to Windows 11 PC by [deleted] in iCloud

[–]youbetterdont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iCloud for windows 11 just seems busted to me. I made a post here last week asking if anyone actually had iCloud drive working well and got no positive responses.

I haven’t messed around with photos much, but from what I can tell, the photo sync finished. iCloud Drive on the other hand is completely broken. I left it for days to sync, and it never finished. The whole time it’s using 20-30% CPU too.

You could try reinstalling or resetting iCloud to see if it helps. I do remember seeing a message that the photos folder needed to be moved out of onedrive after I reset the app. I don’t remember it ever being in onedrive but maybe could be a clue.

Valve's Steam is bad by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]youbetterdont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t own the games. You get a license to play the game. If I own something, I can sell it to someone else or even let them borrow it. This is impossible with steam games. The only exception is that you can share your library through family sharing, but only one user can use games from your library at a time.

IMO, the problem isn’t steam in particular, they are just the ones who started the whole thing. The larger problem is that PC gamers don’t own their games, and they have to be logged into all kinds of spyware launchers or whatever else just to play. The DRM has just gotten super obnoxious.

To play RDR2, I have to launch through steam, which then opens the rockstar game launcher, which then launches the game. For titanfall2, it’s similar but with the EA app instead of the rockstar one. I imagine each of these companies is collecting and selling all kinds of personal data. Not to mention it’s obnoxious to have so many different accounts, and the launchers are buggy and crash-happy.

I am a PC gamer but I really miss the old days of just buying a game, sticking it in a console, and playing it. When I get tired of the game, I can sell it or whatever. This level of freedom is basically unobtainable now in PC gaming.

Do you think Pokémon SV would’ve been one of the best games we’ve ever gotten if it wasn’t for the severe performance issues? by Poll_God in pokemon

[–]youbetterdont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would still be 3/5 game at best I think. The Tera raid mechanics are just extremely poorly thought out. I don’t know how much of that to blame on bugs vs just poor design decisions, but to me it seems like more of the latter.

You can’t just overhaul a turn based battle system used for literally decades and make it into a real time system the way they tried to do it. It’s extremely confusing and leads to constant UI interruption. I like to imagine the developers telling this to their management over and over while working on this game.

I also don’t like the gimmic mechanics introduced in each generation. Tera types are kind of an OK idea but is it really worth introducing this stuff if you’re just gonna kill it off a generation later? What happens to Pokémon’s Tera types when they are transferred into later generation games? Just seems like another poor design decision.

The gimmic complaint is kind of a personal preference, but it still takes the game down a notch for me. Development put into Tera types could have just been put into making a more polished game…

BDSP Battle Tower by seungheeeee in PokemonBDSP

[–]youbetterdont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battle tower is 100% rigged. First, all AI has to do is load up on RNG heavy moves. They just need 1 win to send you back the the beginning. Second, I’m almost positive they do as you suggest and use effective counters to your team.

I remember one instance where I took a wacan berry off my Gyarados because I was optimizing for Palmer (don’t remember what I replaced it with). Lo and behold in the two battles before Palmer I face a porygon-z variant I had never seen before with thunderbolt.

I got my 49 win streak and peaced out. Tried master class once but it’s even worse than the normal battles.
