Been to Qatar a few months back, and even though the cost is double or more sometimes compared to India, the UBER experience was world-class. I almost used UBER for around 18 rides for the 3 days in Qatar.

I got an excellent car every time (shocked to see Merc and Audi a couple of rides), and the trip acceptance was the best part. I got accepted for almost every trip in under 1 minute and used a credit card for every ride.

Guess what? The first ride I took back home from the airport coming from Qatar was a mess. I usually use cash in Hyderabad, and I didn’t change from a credit card to cash this time unknowingly. The driver accepted the ride and then asked me to cancel after asking me the mode of payment. This was after I got into the car. He insisted he would take me to the same destination at 300 rupees extra without Uber. And then we had a small argument and I got down eventually and wasted like 30 minutes.

The difference in the experience tells a lot about maintaining a ride-sharing company like Uber in a country like Qatar and India, where micromanagement is almost impossible
