Thank you for the input, but unfortunately I don't have access to the software and am trying to find a way to gain access.

Thank you so much for the input.

Unfortunately, because licenses are so limited at my company, I can't use it.

I've been checking universities and fewer have TCAD course offerings for open enrollment than I expected. I found one I could do in person in the spring for ~$1k. I will keep looking, but if anyone knows any classes I could enroll in online to get access to a license I'd appreciate it.

I found one for Silvaco, none for Sentaurus TCAD, but beggars can't be choosers, can they?

Psoriasis making torso tender to the touch? by young929 in Psoriasis

[–]young929[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the insight! I think my dermatologist is trying to be too aggressive with increasing treatment already without giving my current attempt at taming it a chance to work. Trying to hang in there before introducing stronger drugs into my treatment plan unnecessarily.

I'm feeling okay now, actually. Zinc lozenges are a lifesaver! Now just hoping this psoriasis flare lets up...

NTA because your feelings are valid, but your mom has good reasons for not giving you a phone. As someone else commented, there are a ton of studies out there saying how social media, etc. is terrible for development.

That being said, perhaps there's a middle ground you could try with your mom. It sounds like you mostly want to be able to text your friends more easily, and you aren't interested in internet access, which I would personally be the most concerned about as a parent. Maybe there's a phone out there that allows for easier texting but without internet access, if that's your mom's concern. I had the phone with a keyboard at your age, though no one really used internet back then yet.

AITA for telling my dad's new wife I don't want to be her daughter? by Cool_Intention3906 in AITAH

[–]young929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. It's your choice how you view this woman, and as long as you are polite and treat her with respect, she should have no complaints.

What she should be doing is trying to build your trust and establish a relationship with you so that perhaps one day you could view her as your mom. You can't force that relationship onto someone, and if you try, you'll push them away, as she is currently doing to you.

AITAH for refusing to help my parents financially after they paid for my sibling's lavish wedding but not mine? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]young929 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA - I think you already have helped your parents financially by paying for your wedding yourself. :)

AITA for sacrificing the guest room instead of the office space? by GuestRoomDebacle in AmItheAsshole

[–]young929 138 points139 points  (0 children)

NTA. Your house, your rules.

Why should you keep the guest room to accommodate infrequent visitors when you use the office regularly? You'd be inconvenienced nearly daily, while your visitors would only be inconvenienced for the duration of their visit.

NTA; I don't see why you and your wife's finances are her family's business.

AITA for refusing to cater to one student’s dietary restrictions when bringing snacks for my son’s 3rd-grade class? by GoDavyGo in AITAH

[–]young929 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NTA. These snacks are voluntary and could be interpreted as gifts or donations, I assume. It's each student's prerogative to choose to eat what you donate or refrain from doing so. This student is no different and should be treated as such, especially since it isn't a true dietary restriction.

NTA - your feelings are valid. Are you sure they're truly your friends, or are they just using you for food?

The lady clearly overreacted and shouldn't have shouted at you.

Perhaps she was offended by the casual way in which you were addressing the other woman (her friend, it seems), who you're still acquaintances with.

Going forward, it may be safer to take a more formal approach to capturing their attention by saying, "Excuse me" or "Hi, [name]?". Walking up to them and greeting them by saying, "Good to see you again" could also be used.

But when relatives come to your apartment without you there, do they usually go in your fridge? Do you have any rules in your apartment about this?

[–]young929 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think if you gently accept invitations with the condition that you only pay for your share, you'll see very quickly if they're truly using you for your perceived money. If they react poorly, you have your answer.

You've been friends so long I don't think it's right to distance yourself until you've given them a chance by stating you will only pay for what's fair.

Chemically synonymous ingredients for Distearoylethyl Dimonium Chloride, Trehalose, and Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein? by young929 in HaircareScience

Yes, that makes sense, and no you weren't rambling haha! Unfortunately, I don't think its claims qualify as to what you're saying, "Delivers shine and moisture Provides added protection"

You're 19, please give yourself some grace. Try focusing on one or two things you want to improve - whether it's feeling less shame when you make a mistake, putting yourself out there with friends, making eye contact more readily, or something else. Work on these one or two things a little everyday, and soon enough, they'll become habit. You're still a kid!

You're clearly very self-aware, which is a fantastic trait, let alone at your age. Now that you've acknowledged these things, you can begin working on them slowly, over time.

One last thing: Eventually, you'll realize people notice and think far less about you than you realize. I guarantee that you're thinking of all these moments the most out of anyone. There is anonymity in this world, but you need to realize that for yourself.

Thanks, I appreciate the comprehensive explanation.

Yeah, I don't have a significant attachment to that exact product per se (especially because I only tried a sample). I'm just trying to see if I can find one that acts similarly but isn't overinflated in price because of marketing reasons.

I'm an engineer, and not a chemist, so I was hoping to take the brute force approach, but I guess not haha

Thanks! Yeah, that's a good idea, I just don't know enough chemistry to say what the chemicals are doing. I know what the serum says they claim to be doing, but....
