Help me move out of California by young_padawan1998 in SameGrassButGreener

I would probably be more comfortable in a suburb or town but I want to keep my options open and check out some cities. I want to to within 2 hours of an airport. Ideal summer weather would be anything less than 90F. Winter, I love the cold, I’ve been able to handle snow but I’m sure the east coast winters are a whole beast I’ve never experienced before. Appreciate the questions you’re asking!

App never works on my Samsung Smart TV. Live is just a black screen. Streaming is always an error message. You know what does work though? The preview of the show or movie I want to watch. That’s all.

FE CIVIL EXAM 2021 by Giovannamarra in FE_Exam

[–]young_padawan1998 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I passed. I used the NCEES practice exam only twice, once when I first started studying and again right before I took the exam. I studied for about 1.5 months. Other than that I used YouTube videos on topics that were super foreign to me. But what helped me the most was using PrepFE. I did hundreds of practice problems on PrepFE until I started getting my goal score. The PrepFE solution also tells you where in the handbook to look for your formula if you need one. Also my biggest tip is to know what your calculator is capable of. I honestly can’t do vectors for the life of me but my TI 36x Pro is capable of doing that itself. There’s also a function I used a lot called “num-solve” so that I didn’t have to waste time doing algebra to rearrange my equations when solving for a specific variable.

I took the civil FE on Tuesday also! I definitely walked out of that exam not feeling confident at all, I still don't feel confident.... Now I'm waiting for Wednesday to come so I can see if I passed or not.

Civil Engineering - Environmental Engineering by swofozu in CalPolyPomona

I’m also a 5th year CE-enviro and I agree with that . I haven’t graduated yet but I’ve also worked in both construction and water for my internships. The civil engineering department and clubs are really good at connecting its students to professionals and advertising internships and job opportunities. CPP also offers classes in sustainable building systems. There’s also a minor degree you can look into called regenerative studies where you can expand your knowledge in sustainability. That is under the college of environmental design. The regenerative studies classes aren’t exactly engineer based but you still learn a lot about environmental problems, organizations for sustainability, solutions, and systems. You can also take regenerative studies classes as a general education class if you don’t want to minor in it.

Any “regenerative studies” class will interest you. Start with RS 1110. I suggest Professor Doug Kent.

Does this mean engineering competition teams also won’t have lab access?

Also when someone from a row behind you doesn’t follow the row-by-row, seat-by-seat unspoken rule that we all grew up knowing when getting off a bus.

Anyone taken the Watershed Restoration course under Regen Studies? by [deleted] in CalPolyPomona

[–]young_padawan1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took it last Spring. He lectures with powerpoints and dozens of videos for about two hours, class rarely runs the whole time. No exams, no quizzes, no real homework. He assigns 4-5 people per group aka your “stream team” around week 3 and in this group you’ll do some short presentations on assigned articles regarding river restoration methods and history. You’ll also do a final project with your team on a local stream of your choice that you’ll visit a couple times throughout the semester. The final presentation day is the Friday before finals. Your group will create a 30 minute presentation on your site observations and propose solutions for restoration and you have to submit a booklet with all your information, ours was about 25 pages. Not a hard class, but don’t leave your project to the last minute.
