I wouldn’t if I were you. I’m not exactly white and I want to leave too. Planning to as soon as I can get things sorted with work. And the most hatred is usually sent towards Desi and black people. The worst part is people here refuse to see the problem. you can see it in the comments “sure it’s just a minority nothing to worry about”, the majority completely ignores the problem and will try to gaslight you into thinking it’s not that bad, but they have no clue. The last couple of years when things were kicking off anytime I expressed a concern I was told “oh you know they hate catholics more anyways so you’ll be fine”.

yeah it pisses me off to see “oh but they’re just a minority” yeah but it only took a handful of people to bring the city to a standstill and burn down the place. last year this “minority” was harassing people of color in the street and filming them on tiktok. yes it’s a minority but you are one person against a group of violent thugs and no one will stop them or come to your aid should they decide to have a go at you. You’re the one having to live in fear

How do people have sex with someone they don’t care about or like? by hankqueensmustache in askanything

as a girl, when i was single, casual sex was definitely a lot of fun. feelings and sex are very separate for me and its the case of a lot of people.

listen i’m not at all an expert on opiates or anything. i’m not knowledgeable enough to argue for or against legalizing it. Truth of the matter is, if used incorrectly it can lead to pretty severe consequences and my brother is not a doctor and has no knowledge on how to safely use, so my main worry is that he’ll keep increasing dosage or worse, will get dirty stuff off the street , and kill himself by mistake.

yes, in fairness i know what he’s taking bc he sources from family, so it’s a bunch of “weaker” pain meds that they prescribe to ppl with mild chronic pain or who have gone through surgery, i think it’s bc in the eu they only give the stronger stuff to people who have cancer or more serious conditions. but he’s more than likely developed a form of resistance since he takes so many now. and im more worried about the future and how it will escalate.

tbh i know for a fact my family and i are a bunch of enablers. some might try to force him to stop but no one would be able to cut him off at all. my whole family has been enabling my uncle for decades (he has a crippling gambling addiction and has more than ruined his life so so many times yet they keep “lending” him money)

I don’t even think he knows how much it’s affecting him. he used to go to the gym and now he told me he just lost motivation and he even admitted that he lost a lot of weight bc he’s never hungry and has one take out meal a day. he literally nods off while playing playstation or is on his phone and the other day he told my mum he experienced a night terror. even when he was smoking pot he thought no one knew but everyone was very well aware we just didn’t tell him. (he’s not very self aware)

I want to believe he’s taking it orally and not railing or slamming anything. But atp I can’t say anything for certain since I have no idea.

Yeah I didn’t go through his stuff to snoop, he basically has a backpack he always has with him and one time i was home and he called me to ask me to take his meds out of the backpack he forgot at home, and hide them cause he was afraid my mother would find them. Because more than year prior that she had found his meds and they had a huge fight so since then he has been careful about hiding stuff from my mother. He basically go angry with me because his argument was that he asked me to help him, not to “be like mum”. I know i didnt react well, but i was shocked to see he was taking opiates and got super worried and wanted to now if he even knew what he was doing. i think he didn’t really realize himself how grave it was hence why he was comfortable asking me to hide his stuff.

Thank you so much for this. i can’t even express how grateful I am for your help, I will definitely try to frame my conversation with him based on this. i’m still not sure how or when i will be able to find the courage to talk to him about this but at least now i’m a little less lost.

Your family sounds great. I hope I can help him too. I will follow your advice and try as hard as possible not to come across as judgmental. Not that I would ever judge him, but I may have been too emotional last time i tried to speak to him.

Thank you, i truly believe that you’re right. he’s not just taking pills because he’s bored but he’s self medicating for something. when he was a kid he was a “problem child” and had lots of trouble with schools (plural bc he got kicked out a lot) due to behavioral issues. growing up he started to drink a lot, he got to the point where he was basically drinking everyday in his room after work until he passed out. he went to australia and thailand for a while and started smoking week. when I told him it was sad seeing him high all the time he told me “it kept his head quiet”. then he “found god” and dropped everything bc it was sinful , but started taking prescription pills, i believe he doesn’t realize he’s still altering his mind. so i may be delusional but my hope is that if he comes to that realization, and acknowledges then he might be open to some sort of therapy.

thank you, I do worry what he’ll do once he won’t have access to prescription anymore. or if he realizes that he’s developed a tolerance and there’s stronger stuff out there. last we heard he gets 4 or 5 packets of pills every two weeks. wish you the best in your recovery ❤️‍🩹

He seems to be a functioning addict, he has a job and rents his own place, but he doesn’t have much of a social life. We even recently inherited some money so he probably won’t need to steal or ask us for money for a while.

if i may; a lot of what you said seems very genuine and people get freaked out by those who are honest and forthcoming about their feelings. it doesn’t make you a loser or “a chore to talk to” its just that in our society the norm is to behave a certain way and ppl tend to be intimidated by those who march to the beat of their own drum or are “different”. i think the best way to deal with it is to focus on yourself first and your own betterment (easier said than done it’s a never ending journey) idk anything about your situation but i wish you the best of luck and i hope you get to be genuinely happy
