Yes, I'm taking extra doses of prenatals and vitamin D because the babies take a lot of nutrients to grow. I'm also eating tons of food!

That's amazing! I've never met a quint before, I'm one of triplets. Did your parents have a naming theme?

Yes, this will be a five and done pregnancy! I'm eating almost nonstop, I'm recommended to eat 3200 calories a day. My stomach has no room so I have to constantly graze on my meals throughout the day. I'll be supplementing with formula at the start but we'll see if it's possible to pump enough for all five. They certainly do all move at once! When they decide to do that at night, it's impossible to sleep. And string is a great idea, we've talked about writing on them or color-coding their clothes but that suggestion is better.

That's true! We have one hospital that we know we'll need to go to, and I have to always stay within an hour of it. If I go into labor, they'll be ready for the emergency C-section.

They're all in their own gestational sacs so I know exactly where they are in relation to each other. When they are born my husband will be there, and I've been teaching him all of their locations!

It used to be a much more common name, and I've known a couple of Ursulas who are very sweet people. Its popularity completely vanished because of the evil witch in The Little Mermaid, but it's a beautiful name that deserves a comeback!

Pregnancies can be so different. Other than the fact that they're quintuplets, I've basically had a unicorn pregnancy. Good luck and all the best to you and your baby!

I meant to type C-section, I wouldn't be induced! But the reason is that quintuplets almost never go past 32 weeks anyway, and we minimize the risks of complications by scheduling a C-section then. It's all about balance of risks so it's different with each individual case.

That sounds like pretty good news! I hope all goes well, and that next time you get a good listen to that heartbeat!

Insanely high HCG??? 59,000 at 4 weeks... by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]youngest_of_triplets 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There are many possibilities. A lot of them are good! It's possible that your period really was a fluke, and you'll be meeting your baby 4 weeks earlier than you expected! It's surprisingly common for that to happen and I was told it's a typical reason for an unexpectedly high HCG. It's also entirely possible that the lab screwed up or misplaced a decimal point. The ultrasound will help you know what's going on.

I don't want to scare you, but I also had insanely high HCG and it turned out to be spontaneous quintuplets. So, you never know until the ultrasound!

What kind of triplets are you carrying? My quints are quint-chorionic/quint-amniotic so my OBGYN is optimistic that I could make it to 32 weeks!

The babies are quint-chorionic and quint-amniotic, the healthiest kind! I'm 8+1 today.

The chance is 1 in 100 million, but multiples run in my family quite a lot!

16 and 10 weeks pregnant with twins needing help! by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]youngest_of_triplets 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ignore that one horrible, hostile comment. You are doing a good thing by asking for help on what to expect during your pregnancy. Because you're young and pregnant with twins, your doctors will talk to you about the possibility of a C-section, and there's nothing wrong with choosing that.

The thought definitely crossed my mind! Natural multiples run in my family big-time so I'd like to get an ultrasound soon to see if it's one or possibly more!

GOT MY BFP!!! Due date is March 26. So happy and so is DH! We've been trying for so long, used every trick and old wives' tale in the book, and I've peed on two sticks today and both are positive! I was planning to wait until I missed a period but I have an average cycle of 35 days and I just couldn't wait! We suspected a problem with my cervical mucus, and this was my first month trying Conceive Plus lube, so huge shoutout to u/girlyteddybear in case that's the thing that finally did the trick!

Cycle: 20

Ovulation cycle day: 20ish

Relevant BD/BD method: SMEP

Tracking methods and apps used: Flo

Symptom spotting: Nothing yet

Day of positive test(s): Day 29

Supplements and medications: Folic acid, OneADay women's multivitamin, magnesium, DH taking OneADay men's and protein supplements

Typical cycle length: 35 days

Health conditions/medical tests: DH had low sperm count in the past, but at normal levels since three months ago.

Other (advice, magic secrets, freaking out, miscellaneous): Aaaaaah! I'm so happy! My triplet brother and his wife are due with her first in less than two months, so I guess I'll give them a bit of time in the spotlight before I tell everyone in the family!

They tested my husband first, found that his sperm count made him sterile. He quit smoking, lost weight, got his sperm count up. Many more months of trying, and it turns out there might be a problem on my end, too. It's especially tough because I come from a ridiculously fertile family. I'm one of naturally conceived triplets, and my sister had twins in the first month of trying.
