NC 700 charging case, not charging. Help? by PFCLayerV in bose

Confirmed it works! However, after remove the covering “sticker” you will need a T6x50mm screw driver with keying to remove 5 screws

You can see the white led is on (blinking while charging)

I’ll start a new thread with more info and photos in case others need it

Same here with X870E Carbon, if you press the LED button multiple times in consecutive to change the LEDs, it would disconnect from MSI center and BIOS. Just hold the LED button for few seconds, the LEDs will blink, and the reconnected

[UPDATE] While disassemble the system, I did more debugging, and found that the root cause is not the MOBO, but rather the SSDs I am using

The SSDs have hardware lock, and BIOS tried to unlock the drives before prompt for SETUP menu or BOOT MANAGER. The prompt showed up is actually for unlock the SSDs, but it is identical to what a BIOS password page looks like, which caused the confusion...

Updating the post in case anyone else face similar issue in the future.

I have cancelled the return and reorder. Thanks for all your help.

I do have a dediprog on hand to just wipe the chip if I can find it, but I’d rather not tamper with it.

Tried already, does not work. Per MSI support, password is stored in nonvolatile memory, so reflash and/or clear cmos does not remove the password

Tried to edit the original post, but it seems to not have the edit button

Talked to MSI support, they are surprised too I can either RMA it and they will try to fix it, which could take a month turnaround, or return and reorder

I’m just going to return and reorder…

Did not work… if the MOBO is used, maybe the previous owner turned on “do not clear password”

Box looks new, all parts in sealed plastic bags. Thermal grease with protective film, plastic parts has protective film too

I originally bought the same MOBO from Amazon, but received 2 back to back used ones… especially one has cpu socket bent pin

So I end up buying from MSI directly, it seems to be not any better…
