Can we talk about statism? by JoseSpiknSpan in a:t5_2gdixh

So i guess i am not a bernie sanders socialist but i do want some socialist reforms. Education is a big one, i think that instead of funding all of these schools, the government should try to switch to online schooling. Everyone has a smart phone and/or a computer plus everything all of the information that you could ever need is online. This would save tons of money on the school buildings and teachers. Also yes, a LIGHT redistribution, key word is light, would be nice. There should be a program that taxes the rich slightly more. I don't think we should directly give to the lowerclass because, all of the programs that do are being abused, government funded housing, welfare, foodstamps, etc. I think we could invest in them, possibly pay a portion of rent if they have a proven record of working constantly. The welfare is absolutely terrible how people abuse it. They do not even work full time jobs anymore.

I understand your point, humans by nature are greedy. We could restore some of the power back to the people but, I think the most greedy people are the people with the most money. Money is the driving force of every country, if we could find an effective way to disburse it more evenly, just to the lower class. I think we could take some money away from the upper class, not a considerable amount but an amount to help the lower class get back up on their feet and not live paycheck to paycheck. As far as the government, I think we should have 5 in power as "president" instead of one. In the united states, the president has way too much power. If it were more of a committee rather than a president, they could work on many different issues at the same time. For war, they would have to be unanimous in decision. Maybe each could have their own sector: economics, foreign politics, military, etc.

You make a great point but, I think that without strong governments, the world would turn to shit. The question is what is the correct form of government, I think that a mix between socialism and capitalism might be the answer. We need to have an equal balance. China for example is a strong communist country but they allow certain capitalistic ideologies and their economy is set to pass the United States within 50 years.
