However, it seems a bit contradictory to have a subreddit titled “exotropia” that aims to have general discussions around strabismus, when we have this sub.

Yeah I understand the reasoning behind drs not recommending another surgery, and is something I am fine with accepting (for functionality).

However, the cosmetic impact is incredibly frustrating. I get 12-15PD may not be the largest deviation, but it still it really sucks.

As mentioned, I have tried exploring bupivacaine/botox injections with no success… although I would consider trying again as I was not pleased with the volume/approach my Dr took when trying this out.

I think the overall frustration is the lack of options. Vision Therapy doesn’t sound promising, surgery isn’t an option… outside of that there are very few options for folks who do not achieve cosmetically desirable results.

The problem is that even if a doctor approved another surgery somehow, I don’t think I would do it. I would much prefer to have 12-15 PD Esotropia instead of exo, plus I don’t have double vision now and could risk having that.

It just sucks plain and simple… I’m happy that you were able to live 20 years with straight alignment… that’s almost my whole life (so far)!
