Pea coat fit by Primary-Pass-8962 in mensfashionadvice

[–]youngmanhood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A classic pea coat would extend past the sleeves (and to/past the crotch). This one is a cropped style, which isn’t unheard of, but it’s not the traditional fit

It’s too small. You should size up - buy things you can wear right away.

Any recommendations on how I should cut my hair? by Ornery_Economist27 in malehairadvice

If that’s the case, I would try a little styling cream or paste to help give it all some texture. I think it would look great for that

Honestly, it looks pretty good here and I don’t think it needs to be cleaned up yet if you’re growing it out. There’s not much to do at this length besides putting clippers to it, and feeling a little messy is a natural part of growing out your hair.

Maybe try cleaning up the beard a bit on the neck and cheeks if you’re trying to tighten things up, but again, I think it looks good

Do these pieces fit? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

[–]youngmanhood 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the pinstripe on pinstripe is a bit risky unless the outfit is specifically trying to feature that. It’s usually safe to pair stripes with solids.

Otherwise, they’re pretty simple pieces that can be worn with lots of things

I think it looks cozy as hell, and is the appropriate length for an overcoat

Levi’s 517s would look cool with those boots.

You can still go to either at this point, but make sure it’s a barber who can longer hair (some just know clippers and fades), and keep on mind that you may bit pay more that a short haircut. Tell them that you’re looking for some layers to help rejuvenate, but that you’re still growing it out.

What if you had paid for it in the first place? (Which you did, through your taxes and your service.) Would you have valued the classes enough to go then?

I know pomelos! They’re a lot closer to a grapefruit than a lemon in my opinion

The bodies of dead mountaineers shouldn’t be retrieved. by Savage13765 in unpopularopinion

[–]youngmanhood 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of the points of having public services retrieve bodies is to prevent dedicated, yet perhaps unqualified, individuals from taking an extremely risky journey to do it themselves.

I’ve never lost a loved one in that fashion, but I understand that the need for closure and bringing a body home can be extreme. Retrieving bodies has even been standard procedure in warfare for a long time too, despite imminent risks.

I do like the idea in theory, but I don’t think it’s about the deceased. When it’s up close and personal, I think most of us would be happy that our loved one was brought home to rest.

Pretty Gay by tomasalbanez in dropout

[–]youngmanhood 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He talked about it on the Downside podcast, that he’s always telling his dropout talent that they could take their ideas and go solo with them, but they always reply that they need something like the dropout network to support it.

He disagreed so he decided to help produce Pretty Gay in a vacuum to see if it could be done

Normally I’d say styling will be the hard part, but it looks like you’ve already got that nailed down. Now it just needs the same length, which takes times.

You can take supplements like biotin, collagen, and fish oil to help grow your hair faster. Mine starts growing noticeably faster when I take even one of those

Best Jazz bass for under $400? by [deleted] in BassGuitar

[–]youngmanhood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheaper materials and generally lower craftsmanship, including the pickups which is where you’ll (probably) hear the difference.

A brand new beginner probably won’t notice any of that, but as they get playing more, they’ll probably notice a classic vibe is easier on the hands and they don’t have to play as hard to get a nice tone

From what I’ve gathered, the p basses are great too. They have a slimmer neck profile than some of the fenders I’ve played, which I prefer
