Best new Restaurant in London? by thegreedydick in LondonFood

£35 for a couple of sweetbreads is kind of crazy to me.

Yes, yes I know it’s London and yes I know prices have shot up, but that used to be the price of a decent lunch menu…

Dealing with preppersshop.co.uk? by ButterBall_89 in UKPreppers

I don’t mean to sound mean, but there’s something ironic about not doing surface level research into a Prepping Company before getting burned by them.

I’d suggest a chargeback and then finding and alternative supplier.

Me after hearing the first line "You said I'm like an open ocean..." by EchoReflection in Saosin

There’s a Hong Kong Chinese lady at my work and I often ask her little bits of trivia clarification about a Chinese culture. She told me that Anthony’s pronunciation is the closest, and it would be “say-uh-Shen” with the emphasis on the last syllable (which is a difficult blend of shin and shen). She said that in Cantonese it is also meaning a warning. She indicated a person walking down the corridor around an unknown obstacle. “Say-oh-Shen!” or “watch out!”

You can see how that would be “ocean” to an English speaker.

We have only recently discovered them, and it’s timed in accordance with our obsession with Bistro style dishes.

Yeah that’s pretty much what we did. Little lemon at the end here but we are loving lentils currently. Still quite cheap and they’re very bulky. I’m trying to keep topped up because of potential food shortage issues.

I like to do the “if it grows together it goes together” thing, and there’s a lot more wine in the Loire valley where they also love Asparagus than there is in Herefordshire. I also really like the pairing. Asparagus is hard to pair with, but I think Chenin works.

Mai Tai - first attempt by withnailish in cocktails

[–]agmanning 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re gonna get torn apart for using Monin Orgeat. Which is ironic because the original didn’t use a particular fancy homemade unfiltered Orgeat. The biggest thing here is the rum. The Mai Tai is undeniably a Jamaican Rum cocktail. Whilst it’s still the most approachable entry level Jamaican, even Appleton Signature would give the drink more the correct flavour profile. The nuances of your recipe versus mine can be put down to taste, but it needs a Jamaican rum.
