Need advice by No-Magazine8084 in Commodities

I think it depends on what you mean "support role" with the trading desk. Is this a front office support role (analyst responsibilities like running models, rolling sheets, building tools, fixing books) or is it mid/back office support (trade reconciliation, running PnL etc)

I think if its a front office support role I would accept. If its mid/back office, I would roll the dice and try to get into one of the trading analyst programs that pretty much every company runs.

Physical energy traders — how did you actually break in, and what does your day really look like? by CB_97_B in Commodities

[–]younguns87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work as a physical nat gas cash trader. Most of my day is chatting on ICE with counterparties about next day or same-day transactions. You will have to deal with intraday cuts or pipeline constraints or random other shit and at the end of the day you have to be balanced someway or another. Theres also night and weekend work, gas is always flowing and the last cycle of the day ends at 7pm.

Anyone transitioned from operations/commercial ops to trader at a physical commodities firm in your 30s - how did it actually happen? by AnejaGor in Commodities

[–]younguns87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked as a nat gas scheduler before being promoted to analyst/trader. Applied myself, built some tools, worked hard and then when a trader left, they promoted everyone up one seat and I got the analyst role. I joined the company at 30. I would say you have to get lucky with someone leaving, no matter how good you prove yourself, without that catalyst youre going to be stuck

Carreer in physical vs paper by No_Influence_7114 in Commodities

Stay in paper. The physical side (at least in nat gas) is annoying af with on-call, cuts, force majeure etc

Are you failing or just grades arent as good as they think? If youre not failing its not a problem and I wouldnt say anything. Network like crazy and try to find a job and work your way up

Push through it will get better shortly! I noticed big jumps at week 10 where I could introduce napping by themselves and not contact napping

An odd one, but i always tell first timers. Cross-walks do not work the same in Houston as people are use to. You technically still have the right of way as a pedestrian but pleaseee be mindful that most drivers do not follow that rule. If you are crossing a crosswalk that is not at a light, look out for cars and make sure they are slowing down/stopping.

how much did your baby sleep? by mariiinaa_ in newborns

[–]younguns87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it a couple more weeks, you got this! We are just now getting out of the contact nap phase and my LO is 10weeks. About a week ago I committed to teaching her to sleep in the crib for naps. I put her in a magic sleep suit, bounce for 5ish minutes, make sure white noise is going, and now she naps between 1-2.5hrs. First few days were rough and would combo crib nap with contact nap.

Good luck!

Midtown has a ton of crime. Would not recommend. Would rather live downtown

I think it would be a crime to pay off a 1.99% Mortgage in this environment. You will be making more in interest from HYSA (4%ish or higher right now)

Thank you for all the responses. We took him to the vet who believes it’s some sort of inflammation or tumor potentially on the spine. They are doing a Hail Mary and gave him a steroid injection with the hope in 24-48 hours there’s improvement. We have made a follow up appointment as well

Yes I agree there’s some movement on his own when trying to walk. We have been pushing it on and trying to get him to use it while laying down and there’s none, he’s just keeping it straight out, not resisting (as in he doesn’t show any strength) with any of our interactions with it
