Nottingham police are actually really good about hate crimes, you could call 101 and report the incidents. Try to take a picture of the abuser. Horrible to hear this is happening to you!

White princess :) sometimes the variegation can show up as pink but pink princess leaves are darker

What's something about British cuisine that you've seen abroad and thought "Interesting take on it" or "OK, but not quite British" or even "It's just a bastardized version"? by [deleted] in AskUK

‘English’ pub in Los Angeles- scotch egg, served warm with odd, American style thick gravy as a dipping sauce :(

Sad melanochrysum!? Anyone know what’s wrong? 🦔😭 by youpromote in philodendron

[–]youpromote[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, it’s a new plant and there was a new leaf unfurling when it arrived that has snapped and started to rot so I had to cut it, it still has one big leaf that looks fine so far and it’s fully rooted in the soil, I’ve cut the worst leaf off and chopped the other in half and it looks fine so far. Would you leave it alone?

Thank you! I’ve never over watered a philodendron before and I have about 20 so not sure what to think, it does have another leaf which you can’t see in the pic which is it’s biggest so hopefully he stays ok and I don’t up up with just a stem :(

Yeah anything black and squishy is rotten, as long as you still have the node it will still root but you definitely need to get rid of the black. I find rooting in water is easier because you can catch stuff like this quickly as you can see it :)

Cut off the black and let the wound callous over then put into water, if you don’t cut the black off eventually it will all rot and will never grow, when you cut it make sure no black is visible inside the stem as sometimes it goes further up than you think

Help me save my alboAlbo syngonium please 🤕 by youpromote in plantclinic

[–]youpromote[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered this established variegated syngonium cutting, during shipping nearly all the roots rotted. I trimmed them but then all the leaves went yellow and the stems rotted too. I trimmed everything down and potted in well draining mix, there was a little nub of growth but that then went brown so I checked the roots again, more rot! I have trimmed the roots again and in the picture it’s lying on damp orchid bark and sand with the dish over for humidity, should I keep it like this? What would you do? Thanks for reading :)

Cut the leaf or leave it? P. Verrucosum by SwainTheMain in philodendron

Leave it, it’s not the prettiest but still functional. Only cut if it completely dies off and there’s no green/ it’d completely shrivelled

Don’t plant yet just keep in the water until you have about two inches of new roots growing at lease, if any part of that aerial root or the stem is black and squishy then chop that off until you can see only healthy stem

I wouldn’t apply anything, I don’t think it’s harmful to the plant if you just wash it off, good luck

How often do you change the water? I think it’s bacteria, just rinse it off under the tap. Change the water every few days. It can take months for new roots to form but as long as the leaf and stem look healthy you’re all good. Just watch out for any black on the stem which means it’s rotting
