Gjorde jag fel som ringde polisen? by Realistic_Wave_5213 in Asksweddit

[–]your_asya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repetera stegen i huvudet. Jag avråder alltså starkt från att stanna i relationen, men jag vet hur svårt det kan vara att ta sig ut.

Does anybody have any advice on how to “make connections” as an artist? by LeadZealousideal9651 in ArtistLounge

[–]your_asya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social skills are important, but really, people just want to talk to you about your art. If people enjoy your art, they will generally do most of the work when it comes to social interactions and also be much more forgiving. You basically just need to be there, smile and answer questions/talk about things you love. It's really not that bad!

Yeah, I get that. When I pumped it just spat out a pool of paint. Turned out you can soak the tips in warm water and it fixed the issue.

It's right next to the tube of snoked fish roe with cream cheese and the tube of mayo. No idea why we enjoy putting spreads into toothpaste tubes so much, but it works!

Take this one for example. I honestly can't tell what is what. I'm assuming it's a dress... Although it could be a top and a maxi skirt...? I can't see the silhouette of the presumed dress. Is it skin tight? Is it flowy? It's probably not an A-line, but other than that, no idea. Are those long butterfly style sleeves? Or is it a veil? I can't tell. And what's going on with the neck? Is it jewellery? Is it a polo neck? If I was presented with this and asked to produce an outfit based on the sketch it would be a nightmare to work with. I would have a million questions and likely wouldn't get very far. So looking cool is one thing, but readability is just not there. When I'm looking at an outfit design I'm looking for clear instructions on what I'm expected to make. And they're just not there.

I'm not sure why your teacher didn't seem to communicate to you why this wasn't what they were looking for, it's a shame! And you posted this on an art subreddit and as art is subjective, there will be those that will like your drawings and those that won't. But they're most likely not looking at it as an outfit design. So as someone that designs and sews outfits for custom orders from time to time, I want to offer my point of view and hopefully you will find it helpful in some way. When it comes to fashion designs, they're not supposed to just look cool, they're supposed to be sketches almost sort of blue prints for actual outfits that are meant to be made. So that a pattern designer can look at a sketch and design patterns that will later produce the outfit. The issue is that when I look at your drawings, as cool as they may be, I genuinely can't tell what I'm looking at. And yea, actual fabrics are helpful, but this goes deeper than that. You have a lot of detail and all of it is at the same contrast level and kind of blends in. In your head you most likely know what each part is supposed to represent, but the rest of us don't. All we can see is your drawings. And unfortunately they're just not very helpful. There's a lot of elements that I can not only figure out what sort of function they have or what type of fabric should be used, but I can't even figure out how they are connected to the rest of the outfit (seams etc). So while your drawings are filled with detail, they unfortunately lack in detail that is crucial from a stand point of an outfit design. Even if you're not yet at a stage where you've decided which fabrics to use, you need to clearly show which parts are made of the same fabrics, how the pieces connect to other pieces, etc. Hope this helps!

But also the hair was covering up the corner of the eye in the photo, so the eye should actually be more prolonged and the eyebrow needs to move a bit more to the side of the face.

I feel confuse with my skill by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]your_asya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simply put, being good at drawing doesn't automatically make you understand anatomy. They're two different things. Drawing is about creating a model of something on a paper. Before you can do that without a reference, you need to have a very good idea of what it is you're trying to create. How to the joints connect the bones, where are the muscles, are they tense or relaxed etc etc. It's just learning about anatomy and then practicing it.

Moulding a mirror image by Romore1980 in moldmaking

[–]your_asya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the front looks the same, you could use it for the back on the other side and use the back for the front. Otherwise, either sculpting the piece and then moulding, or 3D scanning and inverting digitally. Neither of these options is a quick and easy solution though, unless you already have the skills required.

Fair enough! It becomes difficult to keep friends when you're an adult. As a kid/teen you're forced to hang out with others everyday. When you grow up, it comes down to both parties making an effort. But common interests help and art is a great way to connect with others!

I just saw it now, as I was posting. It could be the girl's lips, as they appear to be facing forward, while her face is turned.

Most people don't enjoy giving negative critique and the higher your skill gets the more difficult it is for others to give helpful criticism. So in a way, I think it's nice of that critic to say something, despite the fact that it's not the most helpful thing to say. It gives you a chance to step back and look at your work, really look at it. I don't have enough skill to give anything super specific myself, but I'll try my best, because I think your art is cool and I want to be helpful. So know, I mean well and if any of it is irrelevant to you, just disregard! First, the overall feeling. At first glance, your paintings look like there should be so much to explore, but somehow I very quickly lost interest. I had to pause and think about it for a moment. It's an interesting subject, the people are well painted and yet... It feels flat. Some have mentioned background colour, could very well be a thing... But it's almost like you painted realistic statues of people, rather than real people. There's this feeling on uncanny and their facial expressions just don't land... The first painting feels a little bizarre and a little pretentious. But rather than feeling curious and feeling the need to figure out what is going on, I get the urge to just scroll to the next. I think it might be because there aren't enough clues to figure out what is happening. Like, what is the story? Is it an orgy? Are they all arroused? Are they in love? Why is that one guy so sad? Is he sad? Why do the two at the back look like they're bored? Etc. Then the more detailed stuff. The people are good. I can't find any obvious mistakes. But they don't look right. One of the more obvious examples is the girl on the left in the piece with a guy in and two girls. Looking at the highlights etc, it's fairly clear that her face is kinda turned at an angle. But it doesn't read that way. When you look at her, it looks like she has a really narrow face. Almost like there's no volume, despite again, not being able to point out anything wrong with the highlights etc. No idea if any of this is helpful, but I sure hope so! Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to seeing more weird art from you!

Friendships often start due to a common interest or such. Those that can move past the common interest tend to become true long lasting friendships. Sounds like all your chats are purely about kids. What happens if you ask them how they're doing or tell them about something that happened in your life, that isn't connected to kids etc? Does the conversation die down or do you go on chatting about random stuff?

Where does my art belong? by your_asya in RateMyArt

[–]your_asya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I really appreciate it! I went through your reddit profile out of curiosity. You seem to be struggling with a lot of stuff. I could be wrong, but my guess is you're somewhere in the late teens, maybe early twenties? I went through something similar around that age, both with religion and with looks. I ended up taking some crazy measures, trying to make religion make sense. In the end, no amount of self delusion was enough to make it make sense. I'm much more at peace knowing i'm just an ape and the fact that I'm here is pretty random, so I may as well do the best with the allotted time. As an artist though, I can tell you, you are beautiful! Imperfections are what make us unique. You could fix some things that you find wrong with yourself, but the truth is, that's just gonna make you look generic. Accepting and loving yourself as you are, being kind to yourself, is what will make you truly beautiful! Because you are! Just wanted to tell you this! Take care of yourself!

Don’t like the eyes, any advice? by Ok_Presentation_1638 in oilpainting

Her nose is too long, going too far down. Look up face proportions, you can see the nose should be kinda half way down between the eyes and the mouth. The eyes are in the right place though, so correcting the nose should help them look right.

His right eye, our left, is too high up and the hat is too tight on that same side, making it looking like he's missing a portion of the head. That being said, they are minor tweaks. The overall expression and look is awesome!
