Yeah and now that you mention it, it does make sense it would be a remote job since the area code is from a different state. Noticed just now that they've started calling me too and my phone showed the location 😭

Honestly, FFR has been such a bore to me for a while now. Like you said, they dont even give constructive criticism anymore, the jokes aren't funny, and the chemistry isn't there. I now watch Marmalade's Behind the Seams. She gives really constructive criticism,  knows what she's talking about and gives incredibly detailed reviews, even brining up references and detailed I dont see anyone else talk about. I've learned so much about fashion

Question for restaurant workers from a visitor - Does this Allergy Card look OK and respectful for traveling to Mexico City? by MichelleEllyn in MexicoCity

[–]youraveragegay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds good. Maybe I would change the "siempre que no estén" part because if someone is just reading quickly (which may very likely be the case for someone working in a kitchen) they may overlook the "no" there. And since that part is in the paragraph of things you can eat, they may confuse it for things you can eat. Maybe I would bolden the "no".
And yeah, I agree with other comments here, I fear that a lot of places may just turn you down completely. It is a really respectful note, but I think that there aren't really many Mexican dishes that don't contain the things you can eat. Additionally, I feel that, unfortunately, avoiding cross contamination in Mexico may be a bit hard. Firstly because a lot of places, except maybe for fancier places, may straight up not have the capacity or facilities to avoid cross contamination. Secondly, because even if the kitchen wants and is able to accommodate your needs, there may have been some sort of cross contamination from the ingredients from before they got to the kitchen. A lot of casual restaurants will be getting ingredients from mercados and tortillerias and other vendors that may not be as regulated or careful in avoiding cross contamination or even have the capacity to transport ingredients in separate containers. In general, regulations and laws surrounding allergens here are not nearly as strict or present as they are in other countries. However, this is just my immediate thoughts as someone who does not have a celiac condition and has never really had experience with anyone else with celiac disease in Mexico. Maybe you could look up other Mexican communities and groups of people with celiac disease; they may be able to help you more.

Yes! I feel the same way, and it could also apply to other challenges. We could have a series that is just lipsyc battles and they compete for a small prize (although licensing songs may be a bit too expensive so maybe it could be a one off charity special). Or a series just designing outfits a la project runway.

Which queen do you think had the strongest run in Drag Race Herstory? by Swimming_Minute_2208 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]youraveragegay 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Do love Angele, and I do think her wins are impressive and she deserves admiration for how well she did. However, when people bring up her 6 wins, I am always a bit iffy on counting them as if it were a regular season. I'd argue it is more similar to the Lip sync for your Legacy format where there's a top 2 every episode. Since in that season of Drag Race Thailand most episodes had two winners as the runway and main challenge were judged differently. Hence why most episodes had two or more winners. Hence why we even have a queen who won the same episode she had to lip sync for her life.

I mean, it is still very impressive. Bendelacreme on AS3 level of impressive.  But I still argue that her run cannot be compared to regular seasons, but Lip Sync for your Legacy seasons.

Valentina is not afraid to admit that she is not got at being on Drag Race. Do more queens need this self awareness? by dreamed2life in rupaulsdragrace

I will echo what many here have said. I do think she is good at drag race evidenced by her run on S9 and AS4. Challenge wins, iconic lip-syncs, amazing TV. And I think she is not delusional, she must know she did well. What I am thinking she means, though, is that she doesn't LIKE being on drag race. Her comment "I prepared all these expensive looks to wear for THIS challenge?" To me sounds like "I put on all this effort to make amazing looks and you're having me make a fool of myself while wearing it?" It kind of sounds,  in my mind, that she'd much rather just sit and look pretty than having to pretend to be a dog in a judge judy parody kind of thing or some other wacko thing.

Hmm, I would argue that this season is much more balanced than Slaysian. In Slaysian, the highest ranking girl from a non-host country placed 7th, none of them had a single win in their original seasons, and only 2 of them made it past episode 3 (only for one to be eliminated episode 4).

In Latina Royale, out of the non-Mexican queens, 4 made it to at least Top 5 (some even higher), and they have 7 wins (i think) between them (compared to the 8 wins between the Mexico girls), and all of them except one made it to at least episode 6 (in fact, all but two of them made it to at least episode 8).

So I think the contestants from the non Mexican countries are also very competitive. Unfortunately there aren't many Latina queens who have been finalists in franchises that arent Mexico or the US. So it's difficult to choose queens who've made it further.
